Good comparision but i have to disagree.
    1. With the G71 series you can unlock a couple of pipes.
    2. Do you really notice a difference in 128bit and 256bit unless they say it.
Also in this new line of cards from nvidia they are smaller (die shrink) and consome and idle with less power.

    Here are some benchmarks http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2717&p=10

And here are the idle and load in watts.

Taken from Anandtech review of the G71 and G73 cards.

But this is all just my 2 cents :P

I thought I heard it was important that it was 256-bit...or did I hear wrogn..

If so, I change my decision, go with the card u chose..

And is it a 100% success rate for unlockin pipes? j.w

the7600GT totally owns the x850, the x850 is very old tech, the 7600GT was released 9th march.dont only look at memory and pixel pipelines, but look at the clock speeds ,too.
there is a big difference from 64 -> 128bit, not from 128 -> 256. abt the pixel pipelines, if it has less pixel pipelines, it needs faster clock speeds, but the 7600 pwns the x850, it runs at 550/1,63 , while the x850xt is running at 520/1080 , so there is an almost 600MHZ on ram, and 30 on core speed.
