I live in NYC and I have been doing parkour for about 10 years. You are going to need a very strong upper body. That is pretty close to my workout schedule, except i do 15 reps and 4 sets. But you need to start low and build up. dont over do it.

don't knwo everything, but I know enough to ain 40lbs while mantaining bodyfat in one year despite having inadequate equipment for a majortity of the time and despite having an injury which set em back two months. I also know enough to know that most football coaches haven't researched into cellular regeneration and the process of hypertrophy. It really isn't that hard to dedicate time and research into that. google HST(hypertrophy specific training) or HIT(high intensity training) Also note that I didnt'; recomended a body builder or mass gaining routine, I recomended one which was more suited towards endurance.

trust me when I say you need to work your entire body especially for something like parkour and that you need to have good core strength.

havent read all the posts but:

    1. remember to rest !, if you muscles are still realy hurting, give them a rest.

    2. get alot of protine in you !

    3. dont over do it, you dont want huge muscles, they will restrict your movment.

    4. have a good diet.

there are lots of other things, you can allways ask at www.emcmoneys.com

1 good point, but don't judge rest time by pain, pain is a very innacurate. Try not to work the same part without giving it 2 days rest or so though(with the exception of calves, abs forearms and traps thoes recover faster)

2 true, make sure you take in a lto fo water to help protein synthesis and the absorbtion of that protein you take in. This is ESPECIALLY rtue if you are an ectomorph(typicallized by small bone structure, week chin bone, and an insanely fast metabolism) due to higher T3 levels

    3. if you stretch/warmup and go all the way through during your reps his won't be a problem. In fact more muscular guys tend to have BETTER flexibility than scrawnier guys, due to there being more muscle to stretch. Unless you get to a point where you are absoutely huge(say 15 years worth of bodybuilding and steroid use) and the muscle PHYSICALLY restricts movement, you won't have any problems.

4 can't say it any better

I always knew about tricking, but never about parkour. I have a feeling I may start getting into this now.

Thanks for the links everyone and all the advice. I really, really like what I see.

    1. I know how I need to rest. My dads big with working out so I go to him for advice and such..
And my schedule is, Run as much as possible. Sunday=chest & triceps, tuesday=biceps & back, thursday = shoulders & legs & boxing.
but you guys got any real good tips on healing soar muscles? I heard put an icepack on it for 20 minutes. and a bunch of other thing.

    2. Well I been drinking 3-4 bottles (16.9oz) a water daily now. I will try to take it to school but they dont allow it usually cuz people can take in alcohol...Protein shakes good too? cuz my dad got those I believe.

    3. I wouldnt worry about that just yet anyway. I'm not anywhere near too much muscle where it would be hard to move. I dont plan on getting that big anyway...

    4. My diets been pretty decent. Actually....its kinda bad atm cuz we just had a party and i got a big cake to go through...but it will improve :D

    join your school's track team.

Honestly, I also want to do Parkour, but I am so un-athletic at the moment. But the first week or so of Track just made me realize how fricken hard it is to keep your stamina up while running. Do it every day. Do not quit. Your legs will hurt like hell for the first week or two, but only because your muscles do not know how to release your amino acids in your legs fast enough.

If you don't want to do track, get some really comfortable running shoes, preferably fitted. Also, you have to start out doing it indoors, padded. once you get your confidence up, you will be ready outside. If you start outside, you will be too afraid to fall, meaning you won't do your best. But if you learn it while padded you won't be as afraid to fall, meaning you will be able to perfect it easier.

The next thing i recomend is nice fitting clothes. I mean REALLY fitting. Not tight, loose. But have them comfortable. Like champion shirts. they're soft but they're warm as well as very light so they will not restrict you. Don't do it in jeans. Get loose sweatpants, but not so loose you will trip over them. have them loose enough so they do not restrict you in the least amount.

If there are classes for it. Take them. Where I am, in Virginia, there are no classes here, because it's not a city area. The closest classes here were 45 minutes away in a car ride.

    I hope this helped.

I am getting Nike Air Pegasus this week, said to be the best for Parkour.

Idk where I'm gonna get it indoors...or how.

I will think about track. I think signups just started. I'd much prefer to do it on my own time. I love going for runs on my own, and for night/cold days I have a tredmill. Although running outside is better than on a tredmilll, oh well.

I got sweatpants, I just wear normal t-shirts. Thats all i got for now..

Classes? Any clue where I can find that? I doubt there's much around Rhode Island..
