Ha, I have proof that shows that FireFox uses alot of memory. The amount of memory on the firefox stayed like this for 5 minutes. Edit: Now's it's even more
Mines less than half of that. maybe its just u. and 100k still isnt a lot if you have 512mb+ of Ram. unless you are doing other big programs. Firefox + photoshop + 512+ = ok...I've done it on a crappy celeron processor.
I've closed everything, and now it rose some more. 164,372k There is nothing running on my computer except for firefox.
That just happens sometimes. Just completely close FF, make sure the process has stopped (in the task manager), and restart.
well Fx does have a memory leak which has been complained about forever. When you just open it though, it's only like 10 megs... what makes the ram use so high is saving so many damn history actions. compare/contrast with IE7... not a huge diference... but wait... about 100mb of windows goes towards running components that are integrated with IE. so double it...
my firefox uses about 20,000-70,000k, IE7 actually jumps to 100,000 alot quicker than firefox. Opera hardly ever uses over 60,000 for me.
Mine takes 121 mb with 4 tabs. Please note that when you open too many tabs it will overload windows and windows will force it closed losing the websites you opened. (it takes bout 250 for me with 1 gig of ram)
