Photoshop is acting EXTREMELY wierd, it says I dont have enough RAM to save a tutorial even when every other program is shut off...

The wierd thing is, nothing has changed since I did my last tutorial no new programs installed nothing, but It still wont save. The tutorial is SMALLER than some of the others I have done... When I went to SAVE AS it worked the first time, but the second time I tried to save it said I didnt have enough RAM... I know what RAM is and all that, but Nothing has changed since I last opened or saved a bigger file... Could this be a virus or just my computer starting to crap out?

Edit: I also restarted my PC and this happened again.

do us a favor and check system information for available memory (start -> all programs -> accessories -> system tools -> system information) and see how low that is, if thats not the problem (i have about 150 megs left when im running iTunes, mozilla, photoshop, nortons (background), trillian and a few message windows on 512MB). That shouldnt be the problem, but it could result to you re-installing the program.

ram is Random access memory it basicly the amount of "temporary" memory your computer has. Its where your computer stores all the pictures and the part of runing program. if you can you may want to reboot the computer or you can go to edit>preferences>memory and cache and raise it if you have the ram to do it DONT MAKE IT TOO MUCH OVER 55% or you need to clear your temporary files and cache in your computer.

    hrmm.

maybe try shutting down all your processes

go CTRL + ALT +DELETE and go to proccesses.

start shutting them down . but you have to know what you are doing, don't shut off crucial proccesses or else your PC will become really screwed up. just shut off ones you know are programs.

just click end process in the bottom left corner

    I partially tried that o_O

Edit: I am thinking about buying ram later and cleaning all the dust out... I know that ram is a problem... Just dont understand why it wasnt before but is now since nothing is changed.

yeah, on top of that you can also go to:

start -> run -> msconfig and go to the startup tab and disable everything but the windows32 type things (normally needed for quicker boot) and your AV, messengers. Anything that you dont need when you start your computer up (you can always start them up manually later if you need them), keep in mind doing this will make you restart your computer.

Also, try clearing your temporary files (a general search using MS' search function finds most of these) and check you task manager (ctrl+alt+del) and see how many processes you running, a safe area would be low/mid 40s.

    Yes.... lol
    Total physical memory: 256

I am not PC expert... But I am assuming that is my RAM... :P

I MIGHT have lots of keyloggers and crap... But I wouldnt know what is what... And dont want to risk shutting down main PC files.

    I am a "he" BTW.
