Ok, so After Christmas I go ahead and buy a 30g black ipod video. I install everything and it works great. Then, about a month ago my brother messed up my computer and it wouldnt let us get online so we called comcast and HP and they both said the only thing we could do was restore computer to day 1. So we did that and everything works fine... except iTunes. Its installed properly but it wont open. I try to double click it and it lags for a sec and pops up a "itunes has enounterred an error" screen and it never opens. It just gives me an error report screen every time. i tried unintalling and reinstalling from both the disc that came with my ipod as well as the version you can get from itunes.com and neither one of them work. Any ideas?

Thats really weird.. Possibly your iTunes disc could be damaged, but then there's no reason why the downloadable one doesnt work.. Hmm.. Do you have a firewall, that could be preventing it.. Or something wen programs they they encounter errors, it may be because it wasnt uninstalled properly, it was basically just torn off the computer meaning there's still parts of your old iTunes on there possibly.. Im not sure.

It is an error with system restore and quicktime. Delete all the quicktime registries uninstall itunes and then reinstall it, it should work.

edit: there is a page on apple's help site with the error number if you found that you could just google it.

if programs ---- up to the point of which you speak i'd wipe the drive clean and do a fresh install of windows

and that would cure the problems :D
