well im saving up to build a computer can you guys give me a list for the parts for the best bang for my buck? Limit 700$ i already have a case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16811196020
PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817103937 CPU: Do you want dual core? if not then this will be good. Will you be OCing? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16819103539 MoBo: Someone else may know whats best for OCing btw. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813131569 DVD/CD Drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16827106992 Thats my contribution.
again what do you need? What do you want? for gaming/general use I'd say somethigng like this(wait a month though on the GFX cards as they are going to be cheaper) AMD X2 3800+ 280-300$ 1GB ram 80$ PSU 50$ DVD writer 40$ 7800GT or x1800XL 200-250$ motherboard 80-120$ prices, again reflect what theyw ill be in about a month and go slightly over
the answer to that question is obvious until the core duo ships in volume. EDIT: I admit the 3.4 Ghz PXE is the superior proc if you own a small power company and have access to liquid helium cooling. Atleast if you OC it, a lot.
Yeah, the DFI Lanparty Series are deffenetly the best motherboards for overclocking, no doubt about it. Oh and get the AMD Athlon 3700+ San Diego, like DiabloDj1 has already said, thats defenetly best bang for buck, and it also has the biggest L2 cache in the range. Which means its one of the best for overclocking, ive got the processor, its great!!! And runs games perfectly.
for the proc eithe the 3700+ or the x2 3800+ the 3800+ isn't quite as fast for the current games, but it's dual core so it has it's advantages, you can keep programs open while gaming, play the game windowed without a performance hit etc.
Actually the extra 512kb cache limits the overclocking a bit, i dont know why but they dont seem to overclock as much.
i dont really multi task much when im gaming so i dont really need that one you suggested xelink. i just need something that can really HAVE GREAT GFX!
Hmmm im pritty sure that ive read about it being more overclockable. You can overclock it from 2,2GHz to 2,8GHz, which is pritty cool.
I heard that also bout the 3700^ Anyway, from experiance I'll tell you, whether you play CoD2, Quake4, AOE3, whatever game, the 3800x2 will run just as good as a 3700, plus you get the option of running other programs well in the background, and dual cores are the future. xP
within a year or two, cards and games will be taking advantage of the second core. allready dual core procs have some advantages. and trust me, it's nice to switch into a web browser or something when you just died in an FPS and are waiting for a new round. Dual core IS the future... wait... it's the present, quad core is the future. see, a 2.0 ghz X2 3800+ will still playevery game on max with just a single core, but the 3700+ has 200mhz and a little more cache per core. Ever heard of overclocking? there are a few people getting the x2s to 2.6 and 2.8 ghz and youwon't get much higher on the 3700+
