Ha that was a good one. Ovechkin deserves this hands down. He is single handidly (yeah I know i can't spell, thx) carring the Capitals, what would they be with out him? Crap.

the caps beat the penguins tonite 6-3 Ovechkin had a gold and 2 assists while crosby had but one assist. Pittsburg is 14-37-12 (W-L-OTL) while Washington is 22-33-6. Washington is 9 points away from what they accived last year while pittsburg is 18 [Based on End of the Point totals].

    I think Ovechkin then Crosby.

O and Flyers FTW, beat Hurricanes tonite in overtime :) Thx Simon Gange.

maybe the reason that ovechkin scores alot and gets alot of points is MAYBE because hes the only one on his team that can pass or score. so his teammates rely on him to do the scoring so they all pass to him. so hes like a one man army.

Plus if crosby was the same age as ovechkin. i think that crosby would be playing so much better

Ovechkin for sure will win rookie of the year.....hes the first rookie with 40+ goals since 92-93 when Selane and Lindros...

    hands down Ovechkin

    1. Ovechkin
    2. Lundqvist
    3. Svatos

i have watched it as much as i can this season but with work and all i cant stay up so late. but what i have read/seen svatos gets my vote. Very quick with his hands got a good scoring record and can shoot the puck well. He reminds me of petr fosberg with the shooting of shanahan. One to watch for the future.

Age cant really be taken into factor because they both play at the same level and its not like crosby was forced to come into the league at such as early age.... Ovechkin being from russian may not have had the chance to start as early as crosby, And its not easy to go through an entire team crosby has alot more ppl to help him out and set him up, where as ovechkin only has a few like Zubrus and Pettinger, also crosby lacks the huge physicall presence that ovechkin has.

Lundqvist won't win Rookie Of The Year, simply because he is a goalie and he has to go up against Crosby and Ovechkin. Prucha is also doing well for the Rangers but won't win. As of right now Ovechkin has it. Crosby is close behind but Ovechkin's in the lead. But hey, you never know, all it takes is that ONE bone to break and it can all change from there ;)

    Ovechkin no questions asked.

    My list:

    1. Ovechkin
    2. Phaneuf
    3. Lundqvist
    4. Svatos

Pretty much exactly WHY he's rookie of the year. The guy took on the NHL practically alone and destroyed competition. He's a powerhouse. I'd give him MVP of the entire league. You toss him on a team like Ottawa, Carolina, Dallas, or Detriot. One of those teams would be favoured to win the cup just from him alone.

    Crosby was raised near me.
Not in the same province, but right beside me.

Ovechkin has my vote even though I love Crosby.

My all time player has to be Saku Koivu.
He has so much patience and skill.
