Help Me Fast With System Restore

    Hello everyone i'm doing a system restore to fix one of the files that has been corrupted on m computer. (a Interent Charing File that i need to get on my other comp)
    I'm talking about a system restore where u put in the windows cd and rebbot your computer and repair it without Erasing any files at all.
    Will Someone Plz help me fast because my dad needs to take the windows XP cd back to work tom so plz help me fast

    P.S. Remember i don't want to erase any files, just restore the system files

    You kind of just answered your own question.

    Put in the windows CD, go into BIOS and find your Boot priority and make the first boot to CD-Rom.
    Then restart saving the changes, boot up with the CD and go through the options until you get to the screen with your HDD on it and hit R to repair windows. (You will see it becuase it will say it)

    but on mine it syas like type an objectto repair and press enter

    Backup all the files you absolutely need then just reformat your system.

    set on hibernate then take the plug off, thats what i do and it works

    You dont even need the CD, just go to the Help section on your start menu, and an option for system restore should be there somewhere.

    thats a bad idea. windows system restore messes with your pc more than you think.

    I wasnt recommending a System Restore, i was simply suggesting a way he could do it, since he asked how to do it... thanks for trying to make me look like an idiot :) .

    system restore? wtf? are you a grandma or something? if its just one file, go download it from the internet.
    have you tried copying the file from the computer your on to a floppy/flash drive (dunno how big it is) and bringing it to the poor computer in need? elseif, just reformat, i wouldnt even go into system restore crap.
