    Im not 100% sure im making a costom Cp, cause I have a limited income( $5 a week or more, with about 300+ dollars saved up). I want to create a better cp than my current Emachines T1090(Its from about 2000 or so and discontenued). I would like to save some money and keep my 900 MHz Intel Celeron Processor, 254mb RAM, and my 20GB hard drive(might change after build).

    What im buying:

    GFX Card:
    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1114614364423
    $62.99

    Power Supply(May come with case tell me if not):
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817171007
    $33.95

    Mother Board:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813190002
    $45.00

    Cooling system(May come with case tell me if not):
    From bestbuy
    Under $20.00

    Cd/Dvd Drive/Burner:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16827101002
    $36.99

    Case:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16811208008
    $64.99

    Total Price: $263.92 At most

    Extras(Not needed):

    Speakers(I have some):
    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1112807910209
    19.99

    Headset/Mic(Would like):
    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1093467528521
    25.99

    Total Extras price: $45.98

    Ohh and is windows a chip or program on my hard drive or do i have to buy it again for like $200.00

    Windows is a program that can be installed multiple times. I highly suggest spending 1000$+ on any computer. Even ny old 2.0 GHZ, 512MB-Ram, 40 Gig Harddrive killed me

    it's typically cheaper to buy a store bought PC when you have a budget under 400. you might have to swap out the PSU when you want to upgrade to a better graphics card, but at that price range unless you're using windows XP pirated edition you can't get much.

    if you insist on building though, I can try top configure an OK system

    newegg is not the way to go, you will have to shop your local hardware store for sales like crazy.

    plan on something like this:

    sempron 2400+ and motherboard combo 60$
    512mb of ram 30$
    radeon 9250(if mobo is PCI only) 40$ | radeon 9600 AGP 60$
    case/PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16811147010 25$ it's cheap, if you get better hardware you WILL need a better PSU
    DVD burner: pretty much anything

    again you would be better off just buying a prebuilt system. I hate dell, but I would admit even one of their celerons with a bundle screen isn't too bad at this pricerange, just swap out the ram and pray for an AGP port.

    FYI windows is an OS- software. it's not technically a prgram, but yes you do install it off a CD. Windows XP home is about 100$ if you don't mind you might want to look into windows 2000 if you are building, a bit lighter on system resources and easier to "obtain" from what I know.

    I have this case:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811156135
    you might look into it, it isn't bad after you remove all the crappy case modding they did, their mods make it crappier than it really is, I removed the door on it covering the optical drives and I swapped a few things here and there and it works fine even with my 7800GT

    Yes, like Xelink said, with a low budget, prebuilt is the way to go. However, when you get a job and save up a bunch of cash, you should build a PC instead of buying it, you'll get alot more for your money.

    upgrading is the way to go except for oen thing. That graphics card is utter ----. Also, it's half the price on newegg.com

    do you have an AGP port?

    several things to note:

    a celeron will not work on an AMD motherboard, EVER.
    don't F with a new case, but DO get more ram
    get the radeon 9250 PCI if you only have a PCI slot.
    OC that proc to hell and beyond.
