probably wouldn't be hard for a company to do such, all they would need to do is have a small little switch constantly powered and to have the remote active or deactivate it. Heck such a thing might allready exist.

but doing it yourself might be a pain to do.

might be easier to do some garbage with a media center setup and to always leave yoursystem in hibernate as opposed to on or off... tha way you can just use the remote to wake it.

You can get remote controled sockets. Just plug your computer into the socket and your set. Of course, you could never shut it down properly so that might not be a good idea, but hey! Who cares?

there are some cases that come with remotes to turn the computer on and off. But if you're already sitting there next to it, why would you need one?

you have way too much time on your hands...

I see in the future this may be possible..

well, look at tv's... before you had to get up, walk to the tv, and turn the dial to change the channel. now we just click our remotes..

seriously, tho, i think we are just getting more lazy and letting technology do everything for us.....

Its called Windows Media Center Edition. But you dont need to have that OS, you can use regular windows. If you DO have MCE, then you get a controller, you plug something in USB and control your WMP, TV and crap like that there is also a button on top that has the POWER sign, you press it and it goes into Stand By http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/mediace...n/hardware.mspx you can buy those controllers at any pc stores

Yep, that's what I have. With my Media Center PC, it came with a remote control, IR receiver, and a bunch of other stuff. I love recording live TV and using my PC as a TiVo.
