Well, i've decided to make a website, but i'm to stupid.. What i'm asking for is what do I need to make one? Hosting?? Please explain in detail.. Thanks in advanced.
First, you know HTML, PHP, etc. than your set for that. If you want web hosting for free, there is a lot of website that will host you. If you want Pro. Web Hosting for your site. I would go with: www.godaddy.com GoDaddy can gice you the package of getting a Wen Hosting with a domain. They offear great packages. My friend uses go godddy and he love it because its worth every penny. Sorry if I could go into details for you. Hopefully someone else can put it in trems that is better.
idk personally about godaddy so i wont go into detail on that. but, in my warcraft clan i'm Admiral of Engineering and my leader and I share the bill at freepgs.com (obviously not free anymore.) For $3 you can get the whole shabang, php enabled, mysql db (python and perl too). with that you get 100 mb ftp server (not alot). what my leader and i went with is the $6 plan that is the same, except you get 200mb. For such a begineer like you, i would not go into any buying of server's webhosting etc (btw, you get a pretty short url, its just freepgs.com/USERNAME, if you want a .com etc.. its just like $7 extra.) Since you are new, and probably dont have an entire site constructed with php scripts etc (as html blows alone), then i would start with an easyphp locally based server. you can dl it at www.easyphp.org , and it has everything you need to get you on the road (this is what i started out with.) Downloading and using this will teach you MySQL and what the db looks like using PhpMyAdmin, and then you move into learning MySQL syntax (easy stuff). You can host smaller files like images you might need, from this server. This also gives you the ability to test your scripts before you move to buying server space. Easyphp comes with php 4.?.? (you can upgrade to 5.?.? manually though), MySQL db with PhpMyAdmin, and an apache webserver. once you get all that ---- setup (if you do it), I will go into more detail with stuff like DNS hosting (dyndns.org as an example). Because when you use Easyphp, it simply makes your URL your ip, which can be quite an annoyance if you want other people to access it. with Dyndns.org, you can make it easier to remember by making the URL something like *username*.dyndns.org or the URL that i use for my easyphp server is http://john.is-a-geek.org .
Wow a whole 100MB... =P Personally I'd go with GoDaddy. Cheapest professional, reliable web hosting by far. <$3 a month for 5GB HD and 250GB BW. And you get a domain for $2 more. I believe they use a proprietary control panel but it's basically the same as Cpanel. They also have their own little list of free apps you can install. Blogs, image galleries, forum, et, et, you know. I'd suggest first buying 2 months at $4/month and 1 yr of domain. Then sooner or later they'll email you a coupon for about 25% off (with a minimum purchase). Then you put in a year's renewal on your hosting and domain for like $30. Oh yeah, and as for how to make a site... www.w3schools.com to learn and then for reference www.php.net www.mysql.com dreamweaver might help, but I just use it like a glorified text editor to make a site you basically buy hosting -> point your TLD(domain name) to the server -> code your page(s) -> ftp upload -> done
Well starters, Try find or make a template of your own kind then download dreamweaver and script it once done this use front page to make set it all out Once you done that find a GREAT host, theres a Web host going on in the auction room, send some credits to him he will get you a domain and stuff like that and your set
Ok, My friend knows lots of html so he can teach me, thanks .. I guess I can go with godaddy, but when I've got all of that do I just get a template and i'm set??
Depends on what you want your site to do. =P There's a lot more to sites than just html pages. I slapped up my "template" in 20 minutes cause I'm focusing on php/sql/css heh.

I recommend www.100webspace.com for free hosting. * Upload your files using FTP or an online file manager and view them in your browser. Then, should you want, you can get paid hosting and a domain .

Fast servers, great up-time, VERY cheap (uses GR credits), and if he cant help you he asks me what to do lol. But I third what ale_jrb said. Dont bother paying for hosting yet. Try out something like one of the following: 100webspace.com hostultra.com (no MySQL, therefore no forums) geocities (no MySQL, therefore no forums) lycos.co.uk (has MySQL, but includes ads, not bad hosting) Or perhaps I could set you up with a subdomain on my webspace for you to tinker with. to be quite frank, you guys relize he is a complete noob at this right? Krew, i seriously think you would be taking this way to fast. You should start with the basics first, -- HTML, then move to php. By that time you should be buying server space etc. The is almost no point in owning a host/domain if you dont know wtf to do with it. HTML and PHP tutorials can be found in plenty of places, then on top of study from tutorials, i suggest finding long ass open-source scripts to study. I still think you should take my advice for the time being with EasyPHP. If you are in need of a quick and urgent site for an online-gaming-clan, then setting up this kind of server with DNS account a dyndns.org works fine (unless you have 56 k!) By the way, freepgs.com plains are flat fees, meaning a one time $3 fee for 100 mb or $6 for 200. 5 gigabytes for a website is just obnoxious. In addition to the cheap server, you can register with LVCS.com which is in conjucntion with freepgs.com, you can get a .com for a year at $7.95. I guess i should add this about freepgs.com, the only inconvience we have had with our site is when their database server had caught on fire... kinda left us in the dark for about ~2 weeks, which is pretty fast if you ask me. you can see the clan site that i am in and construct at clanwng.com
