    Well i just read about this and i have got to say its pretty amazing how high school students only have to have a "c" to particapate in sports, band, etc.

    Most kids who do the average amount and just a average player...can't even get into a major college with a c average. Expectations of colleges are increasing on students, but the Board of Education doesn't seem to really care much.

    I think if they were to raise the bar on the average grade it would help kids have a new goal for themselves so they can actually get into a descent college.

    for most schools it is a 2.0 GPA without more than 1 D.

    I personally think it should be a 3.0 and should be a 3.5 for varsity, harsh... yeh, ohh well.

    GPA= Grade Point Average

    Its on a scale:

    A= 4.0
    B= 3.0
    C= 2.0
    D= 1.0
    F= 0.0

    And you get a grade of reach class and then you put them in each catogery add them up and then divide them by number of classes

    typically grades are as follows:
    A=90% and above
    B= 89-80%
    C= 79-70%
    D= 69-60%
    F= 59% and below.

    some teachers vary from that though, but that's what most use.

    Not everybody has the same learning opportunities as others. I live in a bad school district, in an urban area and expectations for schools are not that high. A 2.0 is a solid number for students, and who says there going to college? Just because your not smart in school should not hold you back.

    Well for some schools and towns, like inner city schools.

    Sports is all these kids have as a future.

    Taking that away is wrong.

    Wow, a C?!?!? We would loose alot of our sports participants. In nebraska you can have all D's but if you are failing a class then your ineligible. By the way, don't pull some lame excuse that Nebraska people are stupid. We are in the top 5 states for test scores.
