Some Dvd Burning Questions...

    K I finally got a DVD.... though I'm kinda confused...

    I'm using Sonic Digital Media Plus v7 (that came with the computer)... and so when I read the discs it says it was burn up to 4.7 GB (data wise)... but it'w won't let me burn over 4.3GB... why is that... BTW I'm a complete noob...

    Probably because the disk is formatted. As far as I know, this cannot be undone and simply... is.

    I wouldn't worry about it - DVDs aren't that expensive. Lol.

    well, some cd's say 700mb, but actually its only writeable up to 650, unless you overburn.

    same with HDDs, it says 40gb, but its really 37.26437gb.

    It uses part of that small space to identify itself, and to work with your computer. Also the partition info is in this section.

    I'm not worried about pricing since I got lots of DVDs at home (boxing day sale >.<)... was just wondering is that... formatting? Meaning.... sry noobzy here... oh they are DVD-R

    Err... they are?

    I think its the same for either, though I could be wrong. If you can write to them, you should try and get DVD-RW. They r0x!
