Not really and no. There's a load of races in the game, as usual, and most of them are new. As far as I know, the main characters / main race are the Humes, ie. humans. FFXI used the same name for the human characters .. as far as I know that's the only similarity. It's for the PS2

I believe the modern concept of 'life' is that of the BWOW (before World of Warcraft) time period. Some of us have entered the post-apocalyptic ABAM (after boycotting all mmorpgs) era, for now, it resembles something like 'life', but it'll never be quite the same. You find yourself hoarding stuff you find, for one thing.
i take it none of you have played the demom that was released with dragon quest Viii. the fighting is very different for a final fantasy game, basically is real time fighting, something to get used to in final fantasy game but it is still pretty awesome and yes 10 is my favorite as well but i think this will be just as good.
THe demo made me wimper in my sleep for months- it rocked my sox. I am so looking forward to this game
I think you can switch to the traditional turn-based system as well if you don't like the new system, which many don't.
I sold my ps2 about a month ago....but i'm going to buy another one because i want to try this and i want to play kingdom hearts 2 that will rape hardrcore...especialy since they are both made by the same companies..... omg haxorz lol -King-
