i really don't have much money to spend right now, and i really need a new pc :P don't really feel like waiting. anyway, my friend works in some pc shop in downtown toronto and he said he can hook me up with this computer:
    Athlon 64 3000 S939
    DFI Lanparty Ultra-D nF4
    2x512M DDR400 Dual channel
    LG or LiteON DVDRW D.L
    ATI Radeon X1600Pro 512M PCI-E
    Sound & LAN On Board
    Sony 1.44MB FdD
Antec SLK 1650 ATX 2.0 PSU
    Logitech Internet K/B
Logitech Optical mouse (Which I don't need)

That system for about $840 Canadian.. Maybe less :P
    is it a good deal?

sounds like a good deal. you can always upgrade if you find a part that is not giving you enough comfort...

wouldnt you need a hard drive, tho?

that is a pretty good deal. one thing though, spend the extra 5$ and upgrade to the 3200+ assuming that prices are similar in canada to their US prices that is.

it's a prebuilt pc at a computer store in dt toronto, they have upgrades but i'm not sure which. i don't have $840 right now anyway (only have somewhere around $680 in my wallet) but i'm going to ask my mom if she can chip in like $100 so i can pay her back later :P
