Okay, I know there is a process that allows your computer to shut down/stand by/restart successfully, but I disabled every start up process that I didnt recognize its function as something worthy. I know it has to do with start up processes because my computer will shutdown/restart/stand by fine when I activate them all. I simply dont wanna have to go through a list of 50-60 processes and disable/enable each one individually in order to get it to work. Anyone know which process this is? I hate it because sometimes I pause my music and head off to bed and instead of fully initiating stand by it will just stay at the screen "preparing to stand by" and i cant bring it back up so i end up having to turn off my computer by pressing the button for 3 seconds and then starting it up again and I lose w/e information I did from the last time I shutdown/started up.
its not a virus or anything, i know for a fact its the processes. if i simply enable all processes my computer shuts down fine. i just dont wanna have to go through the 40some processes i have disabled and enable each one individually to see which one works, since im lazy.
Well i dont really know what processes you did diaable but here is a guide towards lowering your total processes count. http://www.techreviewer.com/viewpage.cfm?pi=14
been there. this is just the base startup processes (being start -> run -> msconfig -> startup) that ive disabled and its obvious to me that one of them is causing my computer to not act right.
it might be a program that ties into that, but the shutdown stuff, i thought, was hammered into windows so you can not disable it..
i did... i read through microsft official process guides and everything i still manage to come up with this... now that i think about it i think this has only started happening sinec i installed my newest graphics card... perhaps disabling the control center or something involved on the cards stuff is making the computer not shut down because it wants to shut down using the on-board graphics.
