random question guys, but its about processors:

my Aspire case came with an LCD readout screen, which has a special little cord. I want to have the readout of my processor temperature. Should i, rather, could i, stick the little special cord inbetween the processor and heatsink, or should i just tape the cord to the headsink. I'm thinking that the cord might make it harder for the heat from the processor to go to the heatsink, therefore overheating and shutting down. Just not sure what to do.

    Merged Post:

oh yeah, at the moment the cord is over the south bridge right under the heatsink, would you say ~~90 degrees Farnenheit is a normal idling temp.

cool n quiet does not affect CPUz readouts though.

    what exactly does that mean?

I realised my processor will clock down to lower heat output and uses less voltage when not required to use full power. My clock speed stayed at 1000 while idle, but as soon as I opened a program or did something, it would shoot up to 1.83ghz...its the equivalent to AMD Cool n' Quiet feature (that lowers clock speed while idle)

intel uses speed step now so yeh...

as for the L2 cache... it doesn't ehlp the athlons or the PMs much past 512mb worth ebcause it increseases the proc latency slightly the higher you go up.

yes it does. because cool and quiet drops the multi and voltage. It shows up in cpu-z just like on my screenshot my x2 3800+ drops to a 5x multi.

ok then it doesn't affect CPU readouts if you're running CS 1.6 or CS cz in the background...
