Alright im not going with one of the newer video cards because I am not going to game like crazy i basically new a new one for my web design cs, the sims2, age of empires3 stuff like that no hardcore gaming like Doom maybe some battlefield action.

I'm looking for a budget card my limit is about 70$ Maybe 100$ if i can get another 50$ ( dont work anymore )

I was looking at the XFX GeForce 6200 ..

I run a Compaq Presario so you guys can let me know what'll work with my pc :)

Could you please download an application called "cpu-z" and take a screenshot of The 1st, 2nd and 3rd tabs.

compaq has used the presario name for the last 15 years so that isn't helpful information to know.

run CPU-z and tell us if you have an AGP slot?

also, the 6200 isn't that great a card, it will work, but you can get better.

I might be wrong when I say this, but the 5500 should perform better than the 6200

or the 9550(probably not as good as the GeForce 5500)

try that it is very cheap and decent. you won't be playing new games at max, but it will get you into source games on low.

for a little more ou can get this x550

to me on that budget I would either go geforce 5500(if you have AGP 2.0) or x550(if you have PCI-e).

how does the 9600 compare to the 9550 save for the amount of vRam present? I'm curious I honestly do not know.

EDIT: furious, just because the number is bigger doesn't make it better.

The vram on the 9550 is only 64bit whereas the 9600 is 128bit. The core clock is 250 on the 9550, 9600 its 400.

    i got a 9600 Radeon
.. but it all depends on what you are doing on your comp

if you want to put photoshop and play a game like CS then you gotta go with a 128 or 256

I recommend some of ATI's graphic cards. Great and cheap.

listen man i have used over 20 new video cards this month alone, most of the people here just post with what looks best, no offence. im just saying i have used the the X500 like they said and its ok... the FX5500 blows, dont even think about getting it.. the 6200 also blows... the 6600 GT is ok... if u want a cheap budget card get this one, my friend has it and it compares to mine actually..

it might not look that god but for the price it is very good.. also if u have agp get this one:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814123163

i have used both, not those brands but the brand dont even matter, the only thing they can change is the clocks and the fans, and on both the clocks are decent for that card..

Why do you persist on talking down to me like your some all-knowning god.

This quote taken from AnandTech's review of the 7300GS

"The 7300 GS will most likely raise the bar for budget cards in the future, and while the card may not be the most exciting piece of hardware from NVIDIA, the EVGA version that we tested performs just how we'd expect and without any problems. These types of cards are important to game design, if not as much so as the extremely high end, but they also affect the kinds of games that developers create. Ultimately, games designed with efficiency in mind will benefit everyone, and not just budget gamers. Whether for the gamer on a budget, or the home theater enthusiast, the EVGA e-Geforce 7300 GS in the right place will prove useful. "
