Here's something for broadband people that will really speed Firefox up: 1. Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries: network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading. 2. Alter the entries as follows: Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true" from False Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true" from False Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once. From 4 3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives. If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages MUCH faster now!
I'll have to try those modifications out then and see how much faster it'll be with them and FasterFox.
I read one of the comments, Does more harm than good. This extensions, or rather the idea of prefething, puts a new twist to the old 90's joke "Yesterday I downloaded the Internet". As prefetching costs bandwith it also costs money. Not for you it seems in the first place, but in the end it will make your ISP raise your bill. For websites it costs money already, not much for each request but it sums up. This might be one more reason for web sites to restrict access to their content and maybe even charge for it. As a whole it will contribute to web access becoming less free, both as in beer and as in speech. do you think thats true? it cost money more money on your bill if you do that............
I'm not too sure if it will raise the bill. But you might be right in saying that, and if that's the case I think I could bear with removing the mods, and waiting the extra few seconds it takes to load a page.
pimpy101 is correct. It wastes bandwitdh on sites.. Which = their money.. It also uses your money.. I have fast enough connection anyway, a page only takes 1-2 secs to load.. I dont see any need to speed it up.. //Haze
personally i hate firefox but i was willing to give this a try and after trying it out i still hate firefox i will always use IE or maybe change back to maxthon
