Do you have the cd for your hdd? Everytime I have formatted my hardrives I only have to boot from the disc the hdd manufacturer provides. It always gives me the option to wipe everything out, wich means you have to reinstall windows. If you don't have the cd or floppy I dunno what to tell you.

did you delete the partitions? try the man. cd, and do a low level format, which wipes out the whole drive, and writes 0's on the drive, so it will be like a new hdd.

Sounds like your just putting the xp pro cd in without first erasing your drive. If you put your hard drive cd/floppy in and then reboot your system it should pop up and give you multiple options whether it's low level/high level format or to delete or create partitions etc.

Oh and magnet on hd = hd death

btw: what kinda hd you got?

I went to maxters site to try and find info on your hd. So far all I found was this.
    Maxter support

It says to use windows to format, but you said it won't let you right? I'll see if I can find anything else out.

    Edit:

Maxter offers a software utility to create a bootable diskette you can use to format/create/delete partitions etc. heres the link: Maxblast4

I think that should work for you, just follow the directions.

If your cd drive is a cd-rw drive you can make a bootable cd also. If not.. make your bro do it

Link to make a bootable cd: Bootable cd
