for soem reason, unknown to m, i start my computer to have this veyr loud humming that starts a s soon as my cpu starts goin, i did a full test, i uloaded my GFX card and unplugged my cd-rom drive and found that it was only my cpu fan, i specificly ordered a new case over christmas so that i wouldent have to hear the humming, now i tstill get humming noises, i have enough fans in my case (4 to be exact) that im thinking of either taking the cpue fan off and just leaving it at that. but, i thought id ask first to see if anyone has any idea as to what i should do. is there a program that can slow down my fan speed so it doesnt hum?

what kinda cpu do you have? maybe you could just get by with a large heatsink instead of a fan.

PS. did you know you spelled business wrong twice in your sig :P

if you take off your cpu fan it will catch on fire. what is your cpu. As the only way to decrease noise is to first clean the fan, if that doesnt help buy a new heatsink/fan.

just replaace your cpu fan and heat sink and never think to take off your cpu fan and leave it like that that could fry the cpu faster than chicken strips get eaten in my house

I would go with a CPU cooler like this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16835106061
With just 16dBa level of noise, you can't beat that. I would try to get a CPU cooler with a 120 mm fan instead of a 80 mm fan. Usually when you go down in fan size the noiser it is. So, stick with the larger fans for cooling.

you should get one of the artic fans off of newegg ive heard alot of great things about it but you need some big case space to put it in.....and humming could be few things from worn out fans to the vibrating of the system's case while running.

ppl, get a new hs/fan. It only costs 30-50 for the good ones...

unless you want to see your processor fly and/or shatter, you need a fan.

Lol :D Nothing to do with side and cooling fans - They hardly make noise

I think the majority of olden CPU heatsinks make terrible noise like a aeroplane haha - Coz my old one makes that kinda noise :D Well exaggerated quite a bit ;)

CPU is the one i think - It might be also that you got a side ventilation holes where noise gets through just depends :)

How do you clean your fan without opening case? Stick a vacuum at the back?

What type of fan :D U have to open the case-lolz OR else you probably just cleaning the case :D

If you got grills in front of side fans then there are screws take those off then clean them

CPU/HS are a bit tricky ..u cud insert a vacuum lolz and see what happens :D

It also depends on the DbA of the fan - This is called Decibels - Sound measurements - Some are like 28+ and some are 19ish - I got a 19 one and is silent :D
