I get this message on my computer now...if anyone can help out.

Malicious software was detected on your computer and was partially removed. To help comple removal, it is recommended that you perform an extended scan.

Note that this can take up to several hours on some computers. If you would rather continue without performing this scan, uncheck this box before clicking next.

Then it gives me a box to check off to "perform extended scan."

Now I have no idea what this is...any suggestions?

Firstly, is this windows giving you the message or another program?

The first thing I would do is install a virus checker such as AVG and update it and run a complete scan of your computer. Then DL Spybot: Search and Destroy and Adaware and update both of them and run depth scans from them as well (in adaware chose custom scan and then deep scan).

Let them clean out your computer and the problem should be solved. If it is not windows but another program thats giving you the message then they will nuke it (along with any other viruses, spyware and trojans on your computer) and if it is windows tell you its found a virus then they will kill it. Either way the problem will be solved.

They are all free programs and will get the problem sorted if anything can.

    Hope it Helps!

    Heres my input,

It seems that there was, or is some file that you either downloaded or has found its way onto your computer that can trigger that pop-up. it probably isnt even serious but i suggest that you try scanning your system for viruses, just to be on the safe side, even though its probably not serious. If, you want a good spyware search program, then try getting spybot.

    google it . :)

This could be spyware, adaware, a virus, or a worm that was detected by your system. What Anti-Virus software are you using? What Spyware software are you using?

I've got Spybot Search & Destroy.

The thing thats giving me the message is "Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal."

Is that one good or is that Spyware?

Oh and my Anti-Virus is gone, I need to go and buy another one cause it expired.

Thats windows own built in one. Update and run spybot, adaware and AVG Antivirus. They are all free and that will clear the problem up. Or you can let windows sort it by clicking deep scan as thats part of windows and should be able to handle it.

Danox helped me out the most here by telling Windows to let it run. It got all the files. Thank you, creds sent.
