Step 1: Get Google Earth http://earth.google.com/ free version is fine
Step 2: Give Google Earth Start and End point for directions, Google Earth will Give your a pink line with the names and directions at every turn.
Step 3: Get your self a screen capturing program like FRAPS http://www.fraps.com and turn it on
Step 4: Hit the play button ont he left side window that lists all of the directions and hit record on the screen capturing program.
Step 5 OPTIONAL: If you have a mic and your screen cap program is set up to "what you hear" recording you can say each turn and street as they come up
Step 6: Convert movie into Ipod format I use AVS Video Converter works like a charm http://www.avsmedia.com/VideoConverter/index.aspx
Step 7: Throw it on the Ipod.

Very ghetto way of getting directions with Satilite images. I have used it once and while its nifty the screen is so small that unless you add the audio like in step 5 its not very usefull. My Ipod is set up to play in my car stereo so If I add the audio directions then It works fine and If i have to take a look at the streets and the buildings on the screen I can do that too. Its kind of cool though You can zoom in far enough to see people walking and cars driving with GOogle Earth so It gives you a better idea of where you are at then a map would.
