I've been getting alot of pop ups lately, and my current scanners I have don't do anything, even in safe mode.

    I currently have:
    MS AntiSpyware
    Spy Defense
    Webroot Spy Sweeper

ATM I am doing a thorough virus scan, I might get ADAware and S&D after the scan...

But do you know of any others, pay or free, that are good?

Well if you can find the source of the problem I can help you get rid of it.

But I'd say those two u may get, and spywareblaster helps too.

do you mean popups from websites or just at random?

reformat is on my last resort. alough I save all my stuff on my secondary drive... Since the last 2 hours that i was on this computer, I got no popups. So I guess it was that virus, seeing that antispyware couldnt detect it...

    Im currently running:

    Spybot Search and Destroy
    Ad-Ware SE
    SpyWare Doctor 3.5

SpyWare Doctor was the highest ranking scanner in one of the latest spyware scanner roundup.

I would use Ad-Aware SE, I personally think it's the best. Whenever I scan with something else, It can't find as much as Ad-Aware SE..

    Anyway, Here's the link :

    http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

I have Webroot Spysweeper, it's pretty good but it doesn't get as much as infected files as Ad-Aware for some reason :\.

I use ad-aware SE and that gets rid of all that junk I dont want. But if it's a serious problem and you dont hae much important info on ur comp....the best way is to just wipe ur harddirve and reload ur OS.

I'd have to agree with the formatting. I've used countless Spyware, Adware removers only to find that after a reset they returned. Just last night I encountered something called the "Spy Sheriff". Not pretty, installed 16 threats and the only way I ended up getting rid of them, was with System Restore.

So in my opinion, I'd say Formatting, and System Restore are the 2 best Anti-Spyware tools ^_^

Although, I must admit, Microsoft Antispyware helped in detecting and removing (temporarily) the "Spy Sheriff" threats. ;)

I fixed it, guys. It was a virus in my system recovery directory. doing a recovery would not have helped.
