Ok, you see the topic. This is Theoretical, well, at least until I get my new job squared away, and get enough money for my new build.

I want 2 different kinds of budgets:

    1. High-Range. The highest you can go, go 10,000 if you want to. dual screens, multiple cpus, the max ram, 4+ sata hard drives, go over the mountain. AMD is preferred, of couse.

    2. Mid-range. Go around 1,500~2,000. not the biggest stuff, but make it avaible to upgrade if needed.

I will look at all your suggestions and choose it for my new build...

this is the machine I am currently building for myself, it's going to take a few months, I am buying components monthly.

    Asus A8N32- SLI Deluxe Motherboard
    Antec TrueBlue 480w PSU
    AMD 64 X2 4200+
OCZ 2GB PC4000 Gold Gamer eXtreme XTC Edition Dual channel DDR Kit
Barracuda 7200.9 300GB SATA II Hard Drive (maybe 2)
    eVGA e-GeForce 7800 GTX 256MB PCI-E w/ ACS³, Dual DVI, VIVO
Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum (maybe, might just go with Audigy 2 ZS)
DVD Burner not really that important as there are a bunch for the same price.

and of course the case is personal preference.

all in all it is going to cost about 2200 dollars canadian.

OK, I see the possible most expensive stuff here, now I need a suggestion for a computer of today.

    ex:

AMD Athlon 64, 1gb ram, 250gb HDD, water cooling case, SLI motherboard, etc.

This is what I am looking into currently. Its a good setup, but its mainly set for my needs. Price after shipping is $1,534.11.

Its 250GB Space, 2GB Memory, VERY upgradable MOBO, GeForce 256MB PCIx16 7800GTX Video, 2.2GHz AMD Dual Core Processor.

I could just switch my current HDs, Floppy, CD Drive, Case for a few upgrades (save about $100)

The case is extraordinarily good for $30. Perfect rating, great responses to those who bought it, its on back-order right now lol

looks like a good case, ive used raidman cases before. they're good.

well, by the time i get the money, I'm sure theyll have it...

edit: I like the pipelines on the motherboard as well.. keeps it cooler.

I might just chip off the floppy. I currently do not have it on this system, tho i do have one of those super floppy drives in my computer, but it isnt plugged in. just in case i ever need it.

its not really the best for that money, but it is extremely well cooled and runs fast and smooth on everything.

money isnt too big of an issue for me... just a matter of another month of work lol

why botgher with the 4400+? the 4200+ is more or less identical on the benchmarks and runs on a bit less energy. better yet, go for the opertron 170...

EDIT: darkstar, a single opertron can only support 4GB memory max if I am not mistaken. also a 480W PSU would be pushing it... try 600 with atleast 25-30 Amps on the 12V rail.
