wtf that makes no sense. Virus scanners scan all files they dont just scan particular programs.

Contrary to popular believes, spyware doesn't just come rushing into your pc by using IE

uhh yeah, i have had personal experiance on that matter, IE can be hijacked so easily, spyware also gets through very easily. My computer had way more spyware beck when I used IE. Firefox and Opera aren't nearly as vurnerable. There's also that fact that since most people use IE, most spyware specificly targets it.

    OK... there's more you idiot...

"We can't say whether Firefox is a safer browser or not," said Henry Levy ... "But we can say that users will have a safer experience [surfing] with Firefox."

    and

"We can't say IE is any less safe," explained Levy, "because we choose to use an unpatched version [of each browser.] We were trying to understand the number of [spyware] threats, so if we used unpatched browsers then we would see more threats."

    BOO-YAH!!!

*Sigh* This actually compelled me to switch to Firefox, ironically. I will give my personal testimony that for the time I've been using it, the number of Data Miners/Spyware/pr0n ads that I usually get with IE6 has been virtually wiped out. The only thing that shows up in scans now are cookies that I forget to delete every now and then. Not sayin that this proves anything, but that's my 2 cents.

Might I add, you get pr0n ads and Data Miners by going on amature pr0n sites and such. Not by using IE. If you want pr0n use p2p lol.

I think that people get more viruses downloading ---- off limewire or kazaa than they do just surfing the web. I have never personaly, or had a friend get a virus just surfing on the web.

I got this old computer from my friend that his mom used, it was Windows ME, and was LOADED with spyware and IE was completly hijacked, and that was just from sufing the web with and out of date unpatched OS and IE. I ran a scan with Ad-aware and it found like 3,000 infections before the computer would freeze. The only way I could use the internet on it was firefox.

    no more viruses from porn.

actually, it can, some articles of spyweare and malware are linked to startup with IE and they then download other compatriots to join their cause.
