New To Renders

yo im working on sigs etc, i do need a render doing but i wanna have a crack at it myself, hav u guys got any tips u can get a guy. i got a printscreen of my avatar on a game firing a bow...took ages to get...but wen i went to render it i used the eraser on paintshop pro to make the back ground go away an keep with the section i wanted.
is this all u do or do u do sumthing better?
and would it be possible to give u a link to the image im trying to render so u can give me tips on how to do it?

 

Do you have photoshop?

 

there are tuts on how to render but it looks like a biiig hassle :/

 

i have paintshop but i may b able to get my hands on photoshop soon

 

paintshop is sooooooo basic..........to get quality renders you really need photoshop............but may i suggest the pen tool

 

Yes pen tool is ftw, use it, abuse it, loose it ;O

 

Know any decent tutorials for the pen tool? I never could get the hang of the thing. :-/
