Point me out to the statements I missed and I'll be glad to respond to those.

I only used this to point out that even back then they were promoting their browser with "faster and safer" It wasn't like they released v1.5 and suddenly everyone just knew they were safer.

The point was they just bring out patches. No one notices because it would be a little silly 'promote' a patch. When they release a new IE it isn't just the older one with security fixes, it's a whole new interface, functions, basicly just a new piece of software. Instead of a patch, FF puts a diferent decimal behind their name so they can advertise 'the new version 1.something somthing'.

here you left the part about java not completely functional, while most FF people complain about the partial png compatabilty of IE..

With a userbase of 10% How many regular users are going to take a look at the code in the hope of discovering a critical securty leak in 'the safest browser available'

Not true. The userbase is larger its just schools, businesses, etc dont allow the use of other web browsers let alone other software on their pcs so that throws it off a bit, Then there are programs which automatically look to open IE for product updates and registration (Good example of this is Mcafee).

A lot of java content doesn't have sound. I'm talking games and such here, not the scripts.

But meh, in the end I don't care what browser other people use.. actually it's kinda silly to discuss internet browsers like this. But based on my own preferences I have more reason to stick with IE instead of suddenly switching to FF after 4 years.

using IE is like using photoshop 2.0, sure it will get the job donem, just not as well or as quickly. as for the java bug, this is a problem, but it only affects a small percentage of computers, mostly where people have f'ed up their settings in a huge way or another. a fresh install of windows would fix that.

and trust me, IE is a security threat, there is a reason why my school removed the IE shortcuts from all their computers. Also, IEs rendering engine is horid. I used IE for about 8 years and I will admit this. IE7 isn't so bad, but IE6 is just a pure abomination.

to put it into contrast, Fx1.5 has had about 8 more years worth of work done on it that IE6. IE6 isn't developed all too well, doesn't follow the W3C standards nor is it easy for programers to design for. I could design a page and have it show up fine in mozilla/netscape, opera, a few other random browser and then I would have to recode it just for IE because IEs rendering engine is inferior.

The Opera 9 Tecnical Preview 2 OWNS The IE7 beta. I have tried both, and Internet explorer just cant compare. :P The Current version of firefox is still way better than IE7 looks.

Here are the stats for what browsers people use at GameRenders:

    Firefox - 56.61%
    Internet Explorer - 37.14%
    Opera - 4.57%

So as you can see, the majority of people at GR are intelligent enough to not use IE :)
