Guys.. This is true. Chronic made a topic a few days ago and her sister is not getting sued, but his parents are. Even tought she is not an adult at the moment, her parents are responsibles from her acts and their parents paid for the internet. The people that paid for the internet and downlaoded music illegaly are getting sued, not his sister. Get straight to the fact nextime. I'd donate if I had some money but I'm in debt also (3$ left =0 lol)
limewire is illegal simply for the fact its a P2P sharing file client. iMesh, oldschool napster, morpheus, limewire, bearshare, winMX, Kazaa, etc. are all illegal since you are giving files to other people that could have been paid for and maybe were one time, but not for the other million people that get them. As someone said that it wasnt illegal to download music, it is indeed illegal. You are stealing a bought product. A friend of mine was almost in a lot of trouble since he used to carry a 120 CD case with all my bought CDs burnt so that if they scratched he could just burn em again and wouldnt have to go buy a new CD and almost got in trouble for having those. He had to take the cop home and prove to him that he had most, if not all, the CDs that were in his case. New napster is currently not illegal (for some reason... im not 100% sure why, since a CD with the same lyrics cost more than napster gives them for). Really, I dont feel sympathy for the family. Even tho I probably have more downloaded music than anyone else on this website (around 8,000 songs) if your caught, its your own responsibility to deal with your own ----, no one elses. If I was caught on manslaughter I wouldnt run like a sissy, id do my time, pay my dues and live the rest of my life. Even tho his parents are the ones being sued his sister should be the one to pay for it all. It was her fault she didnt take the necessary precautions to download music (proxies, etc.) and by even downloading a P2P client she agreed to their TOS saying that what she was doing was illegal. When downloading anything you are taking the risk of being caught. There has even been government conversations where the government themselves want to make their own file sharing servers just to be able to log whoever downloads from it and catch them in hopes to stop downloading. This, however, would involve a lot of musical artist volunteers in giving atleast 1 copy of every song/cd they have and cost numerous thousands if not upwards of a million to keep the server running with so much on it. Sisters fault, sisters payment.
No, I do not download music. It's called buying music..you know, legally. Grow up, be responsible and buy your own stuff.
