I was getting the same problem when I was using my regular speakers (just normal desktop speakers) when I was playing on the American campaign with the volume up really high. Your speakers (just like mine) cant handle that much noise ... but then I busted out the 5.1 surround sound speakers and everything worked great :D I would suggest buying some new speakers ... cause it happens to my old ones all the time on that game.

I know what you mean ... my regular desktop speakers work great on any other game or playing music very loud. The Russian and British campaigns on Call of Duty 2 sound great. It's only the American campaign that it does this to my speakers, yet, it works fine on my gaming headset ... without any crackling or anything. Does it do this to u on all or just the American one?

Borrow someone's speakers and plug them in to see if that is the problem ... I know it's not the game because I play on multiplayer all the time without a problem.

    Start>Run>type in DXDIAG>sound tab
Then turn the hardware sound accelaration level (mid left) to basic acceleration.

    Hope I helped :D
