Go HERE to nvidia.com ... it tells you exactly how to do it. Download the file nvtweak.reg and restart your computer. Go to clock frequencies and then click on Auto Detect or something like that and it will automatically overclock your vid card to a safe level. Then check the box that says save clocks at restart. I did it to my old Geforce 5200 card before and the auto overclock worked great, got it from 250 and 400 (stock clocks) to 300 and 500 (with auto configuration). Have fun ... but don't ruin your video card
haha thanks but where is the download link i dont see it lol and do u like my new sig i made lol? Merged Post: wait found it lol
this comp place by my house over clocks there cards all the time except put a fan blasting into ur card directly or ur card will over heat and in sum instances the plastic melts
Only if you overclock it a ton ... with most newer cards, you can overclock the core about 20 MHz and the memory about 50 MHz without seeing a big change in heat output. If you run the auto clock configuration ... it automatically picks the optimum overclock for you, so it wont overheat. Merged Post: Did you overclock it yet? ... if you did ... how much did you overclock it?
yeah it ws reading 300MHz but now its at 500MHz so yeah i have kinda noticed the deference haha.and i thought overclocking was wen u put more memory into the card?
i seriously doubt that its stable with a 200mhz overclock, run 3dmark05 in a loop and see if it crashes. also look for any artifacting. If the PC starts BSOD'ing i suggest lowering the clockspeeds
haha erm what did u just say lol what are artifacts and other stuff Merged Post: oh and it should be reading at 500MHz it says so looool
Aren't the default clocks for the 6600gt 500 MHz and 1000 MHz? Did you run the auto configuration tool?

Aren't the default clocks for the 6600gt 500 MHz and 1000 MHz? Did you run the auto configuration tool? Artifacts are errors in your video output if you overclock it too much. If you see that the image in games is grainy or doesn't seem right, lower the overclock until it looks alright.
***PLEASE DELETE MY LAST FEW POSTS*** My internet crapped out and I hit refresh a few too many times ... sorry about that. ^_^
haha okay nah its gooood no artifacts. i put it at 600 once and top like 2000MHz but it jsut crashed lol after a hour haha.
Yeah... better performance, no extra money. And unless you do something stupid, no real danger of doing any harm. Monitor your temps using RivaTuner, and if they're to high (I try to stay below 70* C under load) then lower your clocks or increase your cooling. And I've got my 6600GT at 570/1100. I had it higher, but didn't like my 78* C temps while playing COD2... Marforce, the 6600GT idles at 300MHz core and jumps to 500MHz under 3D load.
