Im confused you are wanting a cpu fan yet you are talking about case fans.

Your cpu fan is screwed to your heatsink which is clipped to your cpu via thermal paste.

The case fan at the rear of your pc is to remove the hot air from your pc, NOT for you cpu.

Have you listened to one :censored: thing I have said? There is Passive, Metal, Heatsink. There is a green pipe thing connected to my heatsink that hooks to a fan on the back of my case. So, there is just a heatsink on my processor, with the fan at the back of my case blowing air from it, thats why I just wanted to buy some kind of heatsink with a fan on it for the processor. Do you understand now? I am not an idiot when it comes to computers, I know how most modern heatsinks are and how they work ... all that I wanted was an oppinion on if the heatsink was decent. I have a Northwood processor and it says its for Prescott ... will that matter?

Well, I emailed ThermalTake and they said that all Prescott 478 Heatsinks will work with Northwood 478 processors. Thanks for the help anyways. ^_^

Ok man, sorry. Do you get what I'm saying now though? Anything is better than what I have now (a passive heatsink) am I right about that?

Yes. Just make sure you attach it properly, and realize that attaching an aftermarket HS/F almost always voids the warranty on the CPU.

My warranty on my computer ran out about 8 months ago anyways. :D and adding my power supply, sound card, graphics card, and memory most likely voided it anyways ... so ... warranties are a thing of the past for me

This will increase noise if you only had a passive heatsink before just to let you know.

Ah, thats ok, at least the inside of my computer wont be so hot ... I hated how it was before, because the only fan pulling air out of the computer was my PSU fan (since my case fan was attached to my passive heatsink) now that case fan can be used to actually pull air out of the whole computer :D . I just ordered it ... should get it in a couple days. Now I just need to figure out how to get my old heatsink off ^_^

I doubt your temps will decrease though.

Anything's better than a regular passive heatsink. Heat pipes > HS/F > regular passive

oookay... anything's better than a stock intel passive heatsink.

    It's strange, though, my Celeron D came with a HS/F.... odd that a pentium 4 wouldn't.

I think it's because Dell is gay ^_^ ... my parents gave it to me for free though (was $1000 desktop) when they got a laptop. I put about $500 into it with a new sound card, graphics card, ram and psu. It is the worst heatsink in the world. For 1: it has no fan, 2: It's a stock Intel, 3: I'm pretty sure that copper is a better material than whatever mine is made out of :D ... I also hate dell because our laptop worked like crap ... always shuttin down by itself ... luckily, they fixed it for free.
