    Ok well.

When I run cs 1.6 and join a server, i can run at either faster then normal speeds, then i like pause for a second, run for 2 seconds, pause etc.

Sometimes I run normal speed with the same problem. This happens everytime I play 1.6 without restarting computer. After restarting, 1.6 runs perfectly. I get accused of speedhacking and kicked etc, and restarting the computer everytime I want to play isn't the best solution. My computer can run this game easily. Will post specs later if needed.

    Thanks,

    dja

    You're probably lagging.

People tend to stop, run really fast, stop and repeat when they are lagging.

this probably sounds stupid but run virus/spyware scans in case a virus has installed something.

Or try re-installing it, steam cs everything

vsync is on, so i get 60fps constant. Lag doesn't make you physically go faster though. Seems weird that it's fine after restart.

    Will virus scan etc later,

There's no need, the human eye can't differentiate between frames very well past 18 FPS, and it's pretty much impossible to tell the difference past 30. The only thing you'll notice is tearing at the edges of the screen.

Found out why it was doing this, 1.6 doesn't like dual core processors apparantly. Switching the affinity to using 1 core fixed the problem. Thought i'd post it incase anyone ever has this problem.

no most early games have no dual core support, he said so himself, he just made it proprietory to one single core

Thanks for stating that. I have a dual core arriving in a couple of days, so that will probably be useful if I decide to get on 1.6 instead of source sometime.
