This is going to be a thread that will, well kind of let people now that fire fox is not all that its cracked up to be. Over the course of time Internet Explorer has been the number on browser in the market by far. Just to say if you're a person who writes viruses or exploits security vulnerabilities you want these to be as effective as possible. That’s why you receive so many patches and up dates for IE. Now that Fire Fox has taken over more then 10% of the market share from IE, what you’re about to see is a transition along with those people who exploit IE vulnerabilities to FF. What I am going to provide here is some resources to back up my claims. Just remember that when more people use FF the more vulnerability’s are going to be exploited even more. Its not that FF is more secure, it’s because it did not have a user base that IE did. There for why exploit a vulnerability if only it will effect about 5 % of your intended target. I can go on and on about this but just read some of the links that I am posted, definitely read them before you make a comment. I don’t really want to here that you like, because I know that there is plenty of people like FF, I do to and I use it as well. I will not use it any more do to IE7 being out in beta version. Just to give you an insight, in the past 4 years I have not ran any virus software and used IE 99% of the time. During this time I have not receive any viruses or complications with my system due to this at all and I do run M$ firewall and haven’t had any problems with it. That way you know were I am coming from..... Statistics for Mozilla Firefox Statistics for Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x The Pros and Cons of Firefox Hackers work to exploit latest Firefox flaw Firefox bug list This is just a few and remember this is not a thread to bash FF its to let people be aware that FF is not as safe as everyone thinks it is. The more people that utilize FF the more it will be exploited. Thanks and let me know what you think.....
Sorry, but this and you are BS... Firefox is 10x better than what IE will ever be. Even with their v.7... Firefox had full PNG support before IE. They had tabs before IE. They had pop up blockers before IE. It could fully read Xml before IE. Firefox is more secure then IE. period. Have you tried the latest version, 1.5.1? NEVER try to move a group. I and many others have tried to move people to Fx or opera. Stop scaring us, ok? this was based on Firefox 1.0, which is waaaaay old...
well, a marketter would still be 9 times more likely to attack IE than FF if it has 9 times the market share. Also IE is integrated with windows, if they set something to launch with FF it only opens with FF, if they set it to IE, it opens when windows does. FF is nto perfect. IMO opera is better as a standalone, but I am addicted to my skins and plugins.
FF>IE For many reasons, most of which have been posted before. Only bad thing about firefox is the quicktime compatibility error that you can sometimes receive. Otherwise, Firefox is greater in every way.
Lol adviously you didnt read my post all the way..... This is to inform not to switch, personaly I can care less what browser you use and dont want to convert. Its just stating the facts and if you read the facts I have posted it will show you. Of course you probably didnt read all the links that I posted... If you look at secunia for IE you will obviously see that the IE has had more vulnerabilities then FF thats a given. You didnt say anything that I didnt already post. But if you look at Secunia compare the advisores for each browser IE=91 Advisories FF=27 Advisories IE=77% out of the total Advisories between the 2 FF=23% out of the total Advisories between the 2 Microsoft has Aproximatly 63% of the market while FF has about 31% This is not a question of BS which to of you have all ready stated. Its not a question if it is BS. I have backed up my comments with facts I expect you to do the same. There is a direct reflection between the user base and the security vulnerability's for each browser. Please tell me which one was based on 1.0. The mozilla bugs list is from there own website and currently up to date, secunia is uptodate as well. The others are just articles. This is to show that with the increase in user there will be an increase in holes being exploited in FF. People beleive that the are safe with one or the other and they are not. I will put in bold They are not safe and secure in either browser
dude firefox and internet explore sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GET OPERA!!!!!!!!!!! it is free now with opera you can do the followng: chat over irc store notes get rss built in email oper kills firefox when it come to web browsers
stfu with pointless posts, like ludjer. I agree with master and xelink, they know what they are talking about.
FF is really secure if you have a version which isn't a year old. no shid the 1 year old version has viruses designed for it, it's open source, anyone can see the code so of course older obsolete code is easy to pick at. tell me though, have you ever gotten any peice of nallicious software while using Firefox in an intelligent manner? I most certainly have not, I consider it safer than opera because of the ability to selectively block/enable javascript on pages.
stfu to u piece of sh!t my posts are not usless i am just saying what i think i have spent 1 year with IE i have spent another 2 with firfox and now i have just started using oper (a few months ago) and from experiance i think the best is opera i have never ever gotten a virus from surfing the web (YET) and i am one of those guys that spend a lot of time onlin going to unknowen webpages where there are destined to be viruses (i won't mension any (way to bad) but if you want to know i will pm you) i evan have opera for the cellphone i love it since i changed you guys should also make the right choice go to www.opera.com you know you want it lol --==EDIT==-- go here for all the features for oper 8 (the latest one)
i just said it cuz we were talking about IE v FF not who wants to download Opera. But sorry about my harshness. I figured it was too much but I was too lazy to edit it XP
Firfox has alread proven that it is not "perfect" by any means. Every other week it seems there is a new bug or security issue found, but the Mozilla team does usually fix the issue within days if not hours. Now I do believe that if the market share increases, even more issues will be found, proving that the "more eyes on the code" point of view is utter BS. It's a misconception to think that "any hacker trying to gain street cred, is going to hack FF just for the sake of doing it." That's BS, any "hacker" who is taking the time and effort to "hack" somthing is doing it for the MONEY, and there is no money in hacking FF at the moment, but a ton of money if you can exploit the most popular browser and allow x amount of spammers and spyware companies in...
this has been going over and over and over again... Fx vs IE, mods, just please close this... ytoo much of an eyesore, and outcast, i did read it, did you see that they were comparing IE to Firefox 1.0?!
apology accepted but next time it is war :censored: :censored: JK lol but opera still ruls btw they brought out this new thing : Voice Opera is the first browser to prepare for a future of Web sites offering interactive, voice-enabled shopping and booking systems. You can browse the Web using spoken commands, such as "Opera next link", "Opera back", or "Opera speak". The latter command will make Opera read Web page content and e-mail messages to you aloud ,adding usability as either a screen reader or advanced dictionary. Voice is currently offered in English and works on Windows 2000 and XP. A headset with a microphone is required to use Voice.
