Dfault, I know what you mean, those sigs you provided would be better suited in this forum, most people here prefers that style, however, if you're looking for "flow/direction/depth" you would have to point that out real CLEAR in the beginning of the vote thread or battle request thread or else everyone would just vote for the flashiest one and forget about difficulty and such...

Well most people just vote for what impresses them and what looks best. If I were to come with an awesome pixel art made in paint. Which took me the whole day to make and someone makes a cool looking grunge sig they would pick the one that looks best instead of whats the hardest.

when u look at art, u should always look for depth, direction and flow.
the flashiness comes from those three and more elements than just those. im not talkin bout the hardest. when u look at a tag u look into it. examine it and see how shit fits together. and the direction the tag is going. for example: when ur watching TV u can see stuff in the forground, background, and in the middle. which is known as depth. when u have depth in a piece, even if its not 3d a 3d world is created. and that pretty much sums up direction in its own. u can see the way stuff is flowing in one way, even if it sometimes appears messy. for instance, if u had something dark go to bright, and in the bright appeared and object, u can see if it is too the front, back, or middle of the peice. ok, examine flipske's piece. the brightness and darkness is scattered, flatting the image and stops direction. his has a flow to it but not much. the image is blended in the bg, but it is flat. all the same on all sides, not brighter or darker anywhere. if he would have brightned up one side, and darkend the other, the image would have came more alive and more features would be appeared. Slapping text right in the middle or a tag ruins the piece. takes all the depth out of it (if it had any in the first place). throws off the flow. u cant just glance at a piece and say its good. thats like smelling food but never trying it.

sorry flipske if i offended you. i wasnt bashing your art, ur a good artist.
