For ages I've had this problem with my mouse and keyboard in Steam games (CS, HL2, DOD etc).

Every 30 seconds or so when I move mou mouse AND keyboard at the same time it just locks up.

Lets say I'm holding W down and moving my mouse around. Then I keep pressing W and then press down A aswell as keeping my mouse moving. Then it just sorta locks up and even if I let go of the keys I keep on running forward but I can't move or aim.

And also sometimes when I want to move in any direction I hit the keys and about 1 second later they respond.

    I'm sick of this, I think it's a virus...

So is it a virus, or a type of "Sticky Keys" modification built onto your keyboard?

Could it be crumbs, dirt etc that's fallen into the keyboard?

Generally this can occur when dirt, food, and many other junk gets stuck into the keyboard under the keys, also the mouse may be generally on its way out.Id suggest trying another keyboardm/mouse and then going from there, if you havent another keyboard mouse take photo of your keyboard and then dismantal it and clean the keys, and then try to see if it still occurs, you shouldnt worry too much the only big virus that generally takes over commands in the keyboard is not popular.
Id follow them steps if still occurs please post up bro
Its jsut the case in where your keyboard seems either dirty or on its way out

The Cause of this could be

    1.a. Wireless? Low Batteries ?
    b. Interfearence ?

    2. Just an Old Crap Keyboard

    3. CPU Speed ? and what other programs running in background. The Effects are similar to lag but not being the interent connection but the speed of cpu. Im running P4 3.4ghz Mine kinda slows down when Im downloading, burning a cd, listening to music, and playing battlefield 2 on high graphics, thats what you call CPU usage ;)

    4. Actualy run adware/virus scans.

Ok first of all, I have a 2.4GHz P4, 1Gb RAM and an X800Pro and I MAKE SURE everytime I play a game that only the most basic Windows operations are running.

Secondly, my mouse and keyboard are wired. And my mouse is a Microsoft wheel mouse and looks like this.

And I have run spybot search and destroy, adaware and norton 2005.

I will clean the keyboard today. Is there a way to non destructively remove the keys?

And could the mouse be packing up? We've only had it for about 1 year and a half...

Sticky keys is when a key is held down for 5 seconds i believe. This happened when I played Halo today actually...

Just pop out all the keys except for the spacebar. That ones hard to put back.

Other one's that may give you trouble is the enter key, shift key, the + key, and ins/0 key.
do not take the keyboard appart, I've done it twice and the slightest move can make some keys not work and its very stressful..and dont ask why i did it the second time too XD.

This way you can clean and customize it..
atm my arrow keys all face inward, and i flipped over some of my less used keys XD..

Ok, I cleaned away the crap from my keyboard under WASD and all surrounding keys and nothing...

Then I plugged in this ancient keyboard (which I'm using now) and stuck an ear bud (I think Americans call it a q-tip...) in my mouse's laser thing and cleaned it abit.

It's way better now in CS, it only sticks for about 10 seconds every 10-15 minuts (still kinda random). This ancient keyboard isn't dirty but I don't know how that can affect the keys since the re is no dirt on or around the little rubber thing under the keys.

I still don't know if it's a virus or dirt...

Well then you can do two things..

Scan for a virus. If nothing shows then its probly dirt.
Clean out the dirt. If that doesn't help its probly a virus.

I had the same problem..I asked steam and this is what they said.

Once I did all that I've had no problems since. so maybe try that? If you have windowblinds get rid of it and update your drivers. May or may not work but just a suggestion. :)

Ohh thanks dude! I have Windowblinds! Time to remove! And I'll update drivers too.

If this works, man I owe you one.

Uninstalled WBlinds, updated to latest ATi Drivers and nothing...

Just deleted everything in Morpheus/My Shared folder and now it's worse than ever!!!

I hope to hell a reformat will solve this. It has rendered CS and all steam games unplayable. I cant even kill someone running at me with a knife when I have an AK!
