ok heres what i have in my computer now: AMD sempron processor 2600+ 1.60 GHz 513 MB of Ram ATI 64 meg graphics Card ( not that good, MUST replace ) stock video card <_< 160 Gig HDD ( hard drive ) im thinking about maybe bumping up the ram, new vid and grfx card, maybe a new monitor, and maybe a cool looking cheap case with leds on the front and sides maybe... my budget for this is maybe around 300-400 bucks USD.. if u cant find anything les than that then just tell me the cheapest good stuff.. thanks guys, ur always good help! Merged Post: Available Physical Memory 182.01 MB Total Virtual Memory 2.00 GB Available Virtual Memory 1.96 GB also whats this? i dont think its ram.. is this good?
run cpuz tell us what it says http://www.cpuid.org/cpuz.php I assume you have a socket A motherboard and an AGP 4/2x slot but I don't know. also tell us the ram speed. FYI the virtrual memory and stuff refers to your comp using your hardrive to stare stuff temporarily insteed of ram. It isn't bad or anything, but its not as good as having more ram. here is what I suggest given a budget: 1GB of ram(70-90$ depending) x800 GT0 it won't give you an amazing comp or anything but you should be able to play all the latest games at acceptable settings.
so just run, and see what it says? then copy paste to here? Merged Post: [/img] thers pics of the pages i think u need.. just tell me what i should do for it to be better.
well, I don't think you can copy/pste it but just tell use what it gives you. we need to know the socket type(shoudl say package) it will either be 462(socket A) 754 or 939[unlikely] we also need to know what speed your ram is in mhz and how may slots for ram you have available. EDIT: ok you're on 754 which is good. unfortunately, you have no available AGP or PCI-e slots so you cn't go far with a new GFX card unless you buy a new motherboard. do you have a windows disc or the ability to reinstall windows? you will probably want to get a new motherboard so you can use an OK GFX card (your motherboard only supports really crudy really old GFX cards) I honeslty suggest getting a new CPU and skimping on GFX just a little(you would be able to play HL2 on medium) while mantaining the option of upgrading in the future. consider the following athlon 64 3200+ (939) motherboard with Integrated GFX(ATi x200 or Nvidia 6100 Int) 1GB DDR ram, all that would set you back like only 250-330$ after shipping

ok, thanks for your help, id -rep u but i dont have enough posts yet thanks alot man, if u ever need anything just shout. Merged Post: btw, i can play halo ce nicely and some other games nicely, fortionently, the store i baught this computer from says i can fit a new gfx card in there... so it must b a falce reading... and i have many slots left... so but otherwise its a fast computer, no lag on games yet.... exept on farcry.. the ocians collors OoOo lol
they mean a "new" PCI graphics car though. They have not made PCI cards for about 2 or 3 years though so they are a bit dated. AGP 8/4x or PCI-express 16x are the way to go(especially PCI-e) to be sure though, open up the computer case and do you see a brownish colored slot which should be above the other slots? EDIT I googled some pictures of AGP slots http://www.cheapcomputersandparts.com/Imag...rd-AGP-Slot.jpg http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt...ficial%26sa%3DN http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt...ficial%26sa%3DN hope you get what I mean.
Here you go look at getting this - Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16813157081 CPU: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16819103535 GFX Card: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16814102577 RAM: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16820227037 The Ram wont run dual channel but whatever, if you want to spend an extra $30 you can upgrade to a 6600gt.
defuzion gave a fairly solid setup. only disadvantage to not running dual channel is about a 5% performance loss on single core and a bit more on dual core. again though his recomendation would get you up and gaming fairly well.
