The Actual Review: Performance- It requires a decent system. My system was able to run it on highest settings, with some framerate lag. Thats a 3800+ X2 processor, 1gig dual channel RAM, and a Radeon x800GTO. Most if not all gaming computer should be able to handle it. Graphics- Of course, it does require a good graphics card. But at max settings my x800 could handle it decently. The graphics themself are simply amazing. Very detailed, good textures, and the extra things they add around different places are very nice. Gameplay- Amazingly fun yet creepy. It keeps you wanting to play more and more. A very good First-Person Shooter, one of the best in a long time. FPS style, blows Halo 2 to bits. Better than Doom 3 on creepy factor. Weapons- A pretty good assortment. I love the gravity gun. You get your usual rifles, pistol, grenades, etc. They look pretty cool in-game also. The game could use a few more but it's still pretty good. Sound- The music plays a good part of it, make sure you have it loud enough though. I cant rate sound too good in this because my speakers aren't the best. Only 30-watt 2.1's. But the songs made the mood creepy, and anything you hit will make its own noise. Realism- Very well done. AI is very strong. They will wait for help from others, they command to search an area, they get behind cover when needed. They did a good job at that. Also, as I said, anything you walk into will make a noise of its own. This sometimes gets kind of creepy as I have freaked myself out by unknowingly walking into a bucket. Fun stuff. If you shoot a locker door for example, it will swing back. All glass breaks. Bodies have nice falling effects. They dont have a few similar animations. Scary?- Yes, it can be at times. Things just popping up from no where at any given time. The unexpected is your worst enemy. Its not your enemies but the spirits that will scare you. Just picture it, walking down a hall, expecting to meet an enemy at the end of it, then the door slams shut. You cannot open it. You turn around and at the other end where you came from a girl is standing there. (If you are like me this is when you unload on her...). The screen goes white. You end up with no weapon out, running down the hall, a stream of blood and gore above you, you get to the door with glass on it and a spirit comes at you, screeching away, scaring the crap out of you. The glass shatters revealing nothing but a wall. Turn around and there she is. Freaky little girl is hanging from the ceiling giggling at you. Then as you approach her, poof..She's gone. and you can soon get out of the room again. Multi-player- Ahh I played multi-player recently. Its amazingly well made. Tons of fun. It's kinda of like a cross between killzone and Ghost Recon. Or a faster, more fun Ghost Recon, since Killzone well..sucked in my opinion. At least it was overrated, but now I'm getting off-topic. This game features levels with great design, many diverse ways to get into enemies bases. You need strategy, good aim and good decision making. Like don't sit there and think, should I throw a grenade around this corner at him? because by then, he would be throwing a grenade at you. Basically I'm saying its faced paced, but nothing too fast. And its very realistic. The weapons they let you choose are pretty good. An assortment of about 7, from pistols, to assault rifles to carbines, even the Penetrator(shoots nails). Its all there. A very good part of the game. Download the demo of MP to try it, you should love it. Phew. Well, Thats about it I believe. Overall Rating: 9.8/10 Website: http://www.whatisfear.com/
