I have to say I prefer AMD but it sounds as if Intels new proccessor the Viiv will own. When you use that you can turn you PC off like you turn off your TV, sounds cool :D

it's going to have 14 pipelines and somewhat week floating point operation abilities. expect AMD to be outperforming Intel by about 5% per clock. again, as I said, they lookm like they will OC well because they will run cool.

Ima having AMD now but ima not satisfied it cant handle my way of computing lol it stalls when under pressure (ok im honoust i use to many proggies all at once and forget to close sometimes) but a m8 of mine has a pentium in the same range but it deffenitely handles better under those circomstances ;)

how much ram do you have, that is more likely the problem. I have an athlon 64 3000+ and it multitasks just fine, I can play CS1.6 while running a CPU-intensive disk recovery program without any noticeable lag.

also, if you got an athlon to multitask you're a retard, their strong points are gaming and graphics. get an athlon X2 in its steed, those are the crown kings of multitasking, the 320$ x2 3800+ is at an advantage compared to the 1050$ 3.2GHz PXE and on par with the 3.4GHz PXE while using only half the power and being far more OC-able

also, do you have an athlon XP? if so, those things blow.

again, be more specific... you have an athlon 64(already know you don't), and athlon XP or a sempron? the athlon 64s are a huge step above the otehr two, the others are compareable to celerons in terms of their status

I believe that Sempron's are similar to Celerons in the Intel vs. AMD battle ... just as Pentiums are similar to Athlons. Well ... not similar ... I mean ... in the same market. Sempron is the economy processor, the AMD 64 processors are the regular consumer processors and the X2's and FX series are targeted for high end consumers.

Man, there are alot of things I can do with my AMD processor (my PC). AMD kicks ass the most than Intel.

Based on what I know Sempron chips are just downgraded versions of the Athlon XP chip  Still Semprons provide more kick than the ol' Celeron the only good Celerons were the old 200/300mhz Celerons when the P2 was king

actually, even the celeron 1.1s were "good" the PIII was more or less a PII with MMXII instructions and a more scaleable architecture if I am not mistaken, they performed more or less identically clock per clock.

also, the semprons actually outperform that athlon XPs because they are of a newer design and are made to have lesser L2 cache, assuming they have the same amount of L2 cache of course. The design of the cores though is more or less the same, you might have even called them the same but marketting reasons would forbid such.

the P4s are officially obsolete though because Intel admits they don't put out enough juice. they are going to be phased out with the core-Duos(which have very similar core architecture as compared to the athlon X2s)

this "debate" is more or less dead. Revive it in 6-12 months with the title Intel Vs AMD(to be more accurate) and see who comes out on top then, at that time it will be a better comparison.
