Ok here is my problem: I have two 250gig SATA hdds: 1st one is setup into 3 partitions (50,100,100) and works fine. The second 1 was just 1 big 250gig partion. I did not know that for partiontions over 137 gigs in size u need to have the 48bit lba patch. Earlier today my partion went past 137 gigs. I had to restart my computer after i had installed something. Windows then decided that the drive was fked up and did chkdisk and completely fked up the drive. I lost about 60 gigs of files (including all of my new renders and most of my previous collection of graphics). That isnt so much as a problem as this: now windows recognizes the drive ONLY as a 137gig hdd even after the 48bit lba patch. The bios sees it as only 137, hell every program that deals with hdds i can find sees it as only 137. I was at least able to recover 100gigs of the 160 gigs or so but i still lost countless hours of work. IF anyone knows how to fix this PLEASE POST!!! Ide rather not have 2 send the drive back to maxtor to have them fix it in a minute and send me a crappy refurb. also sorry for unorganized posting: kinda tired and annoyed so yea incase you dont want to read all that> windows+bios is recognizing my 250gig hdd as a 137gig hdd and nothing i have tryed will fix it.
