I have Sprint, and I'd recommend them. I have signal pretty much everywhere I go and their plans are really nice. They've merged with Nextel, so they're implementing the walkie-talkie system between Sprint & Nextel phones.

    My Plan:

    $35 - Sprint Fair & Flexible Plan
    -- 400 Anytime Minutes
    -- 401-900 Additional Minutes
    -- $5 for every 50 minutes above 900 minutes
-- Free Unlimited Nights & Weekends
    -- Free Nationwide Long Distance
-- Caller ID, Call Waiting, 3-Way Calling

    $5 - Unlimited Sprint Mobile-to-Mobile
    $15 - PCS Vision
-- Send, Receive, Upload, E-mail Pictures
    -- Use the Internet
-- Download (music, rings, wallpapers, videos, etc)

    TOTAL:
    $55 month!!!

I take tons of pix & send em to people, I text ALL the time, I use the net sometimes, and I use OVER 1000s of minutes with the $5/month Mobile-to-Mobile (my BF, some friends, and some cousins all have Sprint and we're ALWAYS calling each other during the day). So I think it's worth it - My bill comes in really thick and long, but the price at the end is always cheap :)

I used to have Cingular and I'd run it up over $100, so this plan was definately worth it for me since I talk, text, and send pix a lot.

I got Sprint too and they're pretty good with signal. haven't been on the subway in a while so I don't know if the signal works down there.

Go with Verizon. The phone you get all depends on what you want.
