Thanks to everyone who helped, the issue is resolved (see latest post) The topic may now be closed Thanks! ~nightfire Hey again all! I'm sure you know by now that most of us here on GR depend on Photoshop to keep us going ^_^ and I've been really busy with anything but[/b] Photoshop, recently. However I've gotten a commission to do a website design and I was working on it today. Now, yesterday I noticed Photoshop was acting REAAAALLY screwy. It was so damn slow and when I ALT-TABBED out of it or whatever it made everything in Photoshop white (which normally happens every now and then for some apps anyway) but it didn't return to normal for like 1 1/2 minutes. Same after I tried doing anything in the program. I'd like... pull up the Filters menu and it'd not function at all. Then the white-out problem again. Then, FINALLY I'd be able to do it. It took years to get as far as I did. However there could be some reasons to why this problem is happenning...: [] Recently I've installed a font pack of about 150MB and, of course, Photoshop, ImageReady, and Illustrator are really slow when starting up of course. Maybe I shouldn't have downloaded those fonts. LMAO - they're clean. I have AV and FW protection. [] I changed my screen resolution to a really uncommon resolution - 1400x1050. However I LIKED that resolution but since it possibly could be causing a problem, I changed it back to 1280x1024. Of course I don't think this'd be likely but then again I've had a problem where "the internet isn't working on the comps connected through the router" and it turned out the router was unplugged Anyway I believe when PS crashes it says something like "Photoshop has encountered an error and will now close" or some kind of error message. please, I must finish my project in less than 2 weeks and if PS (CS2, to be exact) isn't gonna be working then I'm doomed. Thanks in advance! ~Nightfire
Same thing happened to me I had to backup my filters and delete them out the plu-in directory, sometimes it takes a really long time to read everything, so my suggestion to you is use the fonts that you want to use and backup the rest. That is the only way Im afraid
Or your RAM is too low = O i have 500 fonts, 82 brush packs Loaded, 100 Presets, and alot more stuff *thanks SigSource* But thats off topic eh? ------- Right click MY COMPUTER and check out how much ram you got if its low....eeek..
get more ram, if u want cs2 to be running smooth youll need 1gb of ram, if ur a freak and want to multi task a lot while using cs2, get 2bg. Its REALLY worth it.
lol i've been using CS2 ever since it was RELEASED without any problems. i don't see why it's screwing up like this now. however i shall probably try reinstalling it and then backing up the fonts etc. but i guess i have well over 6000 fonts could that be causing a problem? thanks again guys! ~nightfire
lol i know... i must get rid of a good 3000 or so. but there's alot of nice fonts in there :| i shall back up my fonts and then delete the rest that i don't need i'll try getting rid of about 3000-4000 fonts or so then reinstall Photoshop or just get rid of the fonts and see what happens  lol anyway thanks for that piece of info, i'll keep you updated on this. anyone have any comments/suggestions feel free to post them here! ~nightfire
*BUMP* you were all right, it is the fonts. so far i've gotten rid of about 560 font files but it's really a pain in the @$$ to get rid of them, anyone have any suggestion? i need to be able to select the fonts that were put on my computer on the certain date (the 21st) but i don't know how to do so. this dilemma must be resolved ASAP. thank you once again! ~nightfire [EDIT]: W00T i got rid of EXACTLY 3014 fonts. I should have a couple thousand left though i'll see how THAT goes. i've always had alot of fonts though. thanks guys i shall see if it was a font issue now! ~nightfire
Sorry for the double post but thanks to everyone who helped out! the issue was the fonts and I removed about 3015 fonts, exactly. Thanks again for the help! The topic may be closed! ~nightfire
