Text Help

Well, I've been trying to do the text effects from this site:

But for some reason, I can't get the wind effect to do anything other than "white out" parts of the text. Can anyone help me?

its because your doing the wind the wrong way, select the button that says from right

....why do you think he did it on a black background try that...

 

ah.... that actually worked. But how do I do it on a 100 x 300 sig? I'm just dragging it over, but the quality isn't that good.
