    I have a

    XFX Geforce 5500 256Mb DDR 8X Tv/Dvi/Vga

and I want to dual screen. I do have onboard video, but i cant figure out how to configure them to work together.

other than that, i could get a PCI v-card from my refurb place. they have 6 full boxes of them....

but I don't know which is compatible with my agp card.

if you can help me or get me a relative link, I'll be a bit happier. :)

Are you trying to find a new AGP video card or need to know how to dual screen with your video card? ^_^

I dont know how to get them to work together either.
But does the card have dual vga or dvi? Its old so i wouldnt could on it. You could always purchase a vga cable splitter dongle which will allow dual screens.

does have a single vga and dvi and tv-out, but no dual stuff.

would a extra pci one work?

i thought those splitters copy the image to two sources like monitor and projector... i saw them being used at school...

ok if it has both vga and dvi then you can do it. Either by connecting one monitor via vga and the other via dvi. Or getting a dvi to vga dongle. Really cheap so you can use the dvi port on a vga monitor.

hmm, I asked the 'boss' at the refurb place and he said that you cannot dual screen unless you have a double header...

    I don't know...

all you need is two ports on your graphics card, most cards now come with a VGA port and a DVI Port, some come with 2 DVI ports. all you need is the cables to connect them. or a DVI to VGA adapter, depending on your card and monitors.

I know this is pretty much what Defuzion said, but it's right, 90% of the employees here use Dual monitors. All you need is a two port videocard and to be able to connect both monitors to it.

more or less just use the two ports out of your comp as everyone said. if you want to see if you can use onboard, just go into BIOS and look around, some motherboards don't support dual output though(just duplicates the same screen) mine does though(fortunately fo me) and yes, if you had to, you could just get a cheap PCI card for the 2nd monitor, thats how they used to do it in the old days(according to windows 98 for dummies)

All I did to set up my dual screen is just plug in the new monitor and go to my card settings and go to "dual screen options".
