ok im using my mothers pc at the mo,but on mine..things were to big,so i chnaged theresolutin,i wnet to da loo,stuopid broo bumped it up top like 2000x1500,he hit enter....but thzat was yes i wnat to keep it.so now i cnat change it and it says o nthe screen,over the limit or soem weird ---- like that :censored: Help me.. i dont wnan wipe hardrive,but when i boot up..the settings like bios etc...thats ok and perfect,cna i chnage in there??
first off your gonna need to check if your graphics card and monitor can handle a resolution that big. If it is capable it should just change like any other screen. Doing it via BIOS would basically force ur computer to do something it doesnt want to and then you could end up with a lot more problems on your plate. I also think that any 2000x1500 kind of resolution is only possible with 2 monitors. Most any single conventional (as in home computer) monitor can handle is like 1600x1200 on like a 20 or 21"+ monitor.
lol i have an ancient 15-inch monitor that can go up to 2048x1080 but it's WAY distorted at that resolution. i guess to fix your problem just boot into safe mode (press F8 when you're about to load Windows, just keep pressing it!!!!) and change the resolution in there. anyway as for my monitor that can go up to 2048x1080 but not to 1600x1200 (LOL strange isn't it?) what would be the reccommended resolution? i have it at 1280x1024 but i'd like it at a higher res that DOESN'T look distorted. on a 15 inch i don't think that 1400x1080 looks good, anyway. hehe. slightly distorted. any ideas for an optimum resolution here? thanks! ~nightfire
1280x1024 is a 5:4 ratio screen so any of the following would suit your computer fine... 800x640 1280x1024 1600x1280 2560x2048 3200x2560 etc. On the current computer im on I use a 1600x1280 resolution (21"), but on my media computer downstairs i use a dual 3200x2560 monitor (2x21") system (6400x5120 combined) for huge graphics/movies.
hehe nice monitors you've got anyway my monitor cannot go above 1080 pixels in height, what res would be good at this? oh btw this is an old CRT monitor and cannot go above 60Hz (AHH MY EYES!!!), i'll probably consider a portrait LCD display or dual-screen LCDs ... perhaps i should try those suggested resolutions anyway thanks m8! ~nightfire
1280x1024 is your best bet then if your monitor cannot go above 1080 pixels in height. Most people use 1024x768, so your well above the average person's resolution. No need for a new monitor unless it starts wearing down. I personally wanted to buy 3 CRT monitors instead of my 3 current LCD, mainly due to the price difference. However, now that I have the CRT's i realize how much more space I have on my desks. Basically what I am saying is stick with 1280x1024 until your monitor breaks. If you want to have a higher resolution then that just go buy a 19-21" monitor and a graphics card capable of running a resolution that large.
my graphics card, although being 2004, supports any resolution known to human beings i hope when my monitor breaks down.. (MUAHAHAHA an excuse for another one!) i'll be getting a decent Portrait LCD or dual-21 inch lcds. OR A PROJECTOR lol thanks m8 i've tried 1400x1080. it's OKAY but the distortion is noticable. i'll try 1360x1080 now ~nightfire [EDIT]: OMGZORZ i just found out it's 1100 px not 1080 that should make for a nicer resolution... if i can find one ~nightfire [EDIT #2]: Wooooo hoo! tried 1360x1100 and it looks decent. 1280 looked better but i'll see how this one turns out. distortion does not seem to be a problem here. ~nightfire
