    what is your price range?

    100-150$
    x800GTO
    128MB

    150-200$
    Geforce 6800(unlock pipes)
    128MB

    200-300$
7800GT or 1800XL(only if you plan to OC)
    256MB

    300+
dude, it will be obsolete(or cheaper) in a year or two and the 7800GT and the x1800XL hit everything at max right now.
    256 or 512mb

please note, more vram does not mean more power, after 128MB the effect isn't that pronounced.

I listed that in US$, sorry don't know much of anything else.

just go for the X800GTO and hope you get lucky and can unlock pipelines. it has the potential to outdo a nvidia6800 for significantly less cost.

9800XT will do fine for todays games. They dont make 128mb GTO's.
Also in the southern hemisphere we havent got any unlockable gtos. I will see what I can dig up cause in australia that 9800xt will cost $150-180. So I dont know why thats so high.

if you do go with a 6600gt, it will run bf2 on med settings at 1024x768 very smoothly, however, after playing with the settings a lot, ive found that you get much better gfx by cranking the resolution as high as you can, then even at low settings, it looks great. After that, just turn individual things up 1 by 1 while still keeping good performance.

Well if you must go with ATI then go ahead. But I recommend NVidia. While the X800 does outperform the Nivida 6800...the ATI 9800 doesn't. Many games are also known to glitch with ATI and I myself, having ATI, know this to be true. I hate my ATI and just want to throw it out the window. I love the graphics and everything but I just hate the cooling and the game glitches. (I have an X800). I plan on selling it and getting an Nvidia 7800. :)
