    Hey Everyone,

Ive been having this problem w/ my pc after i try to install some new Patriot PCP ram. My Specs are: Amd Athalon 2000+, ATI Radeon All In Wonder 800xt, and 512 mb of some crappy stuff i want to replace. Now i am no computer tech persons so any help will be welcomed. First off i belive in BIOS the setting is 133mh if that helps anything. Other than that it recognizes on start up that its DDR dual channel w/ the new stuff in and then freezes or blue screens. Is this a processor problem or a motherboard problem...It works just fine w/ the crappy 512mb mem i have in there now...Any suggestions iam at work soo wont be able to try anything untill later in the day...thanks for everything BRC

Are you sure the memory you bought and the motherboard have the same pin?

Run Memtest86+ on the computer with the new ram.
It may have errors on it..
If you get to pass 5 then it might be ok...that'll take bout 2 hours I think..leave it on as long as you can...some people do it for like, 24 hours.
just google it, Memtest or memtest86+
You can copy it to a floppy or cd.
Just make the floppy or cd drive boot up first from the bios.

    Other than that...
wait for xelink or defusion or master one of them may know what to do..

 Hold up one more scenario for ya dude if you got time..ill definetly try you last post when i get home from work...I left this out so here it is.....Basically my whole idea was to upgrade from my one 512mb stick to two 512mb sticks....so here really how it all started...i had one 512 went out and purchased another 512(both of which were off brands) w/ one 512 in worked fine either or, but when i tried to run both it would lock and freeze(read the manual i used the correct DIM slots)...so i took the one off brand stick i bought back and the clerk suggested that maybe the brands are non-compatible...from that point i went out and purchased two top PCP Patriot 512mb sticks from newegg.com....i tried to install them and it did the same thing freezing then blue screening...For some odd reason this only occurs when i try to use the DDR Dual Channel...I know this would lead to the conclusion of the sticks being in the wrong DIM slots but i referred to the manual and its telling me the to use the ones i did...

    Hmm..

try getting the RAM that is working, and putting it in the second DIMM slot..maybe the slot is bad? idk..

and we'll have to check the results from Memtest also to see if the RAM is just bad..

You cannot run dual channel on old processors like this.
For you ram it should be set to 166 in the bios not 133.
Also yes run memtest86+ and look for errors especially on test 5. If there are errors you ram is bad, if not then its fine.
