Introduction Many people wonder why in the world would you ever make a high level character in Pre-Searing, and it's simple. It's great! People in Pre-Searing are very kind, like to help, like to chat, it's easy to make friends and of course, it's fun to level up in a different way. It might take long to get high level, but it's alot of fun if you're tired of Post-Searing. Pre-Searing is like a small town. Everyone knows eachother, everyone helps eachother, and it's not always about "1337 h4x pwning no0bs!". Skills *Thanks to Guild Wars Guru for the links!* You want to know you missed a skill? Here's the full listing for all the skills in Pre-Searing: Generic Skills Resurrection Signet Warrior Skills Frenzy Healing Signet Server Artery Gash Hammer Bash Executioner's Strike Cylcone Axe Ranger Skills Power Shot (primary proffesion only) Troll Unguent Charm Animal Comfort Animal Read the Wind Point Blank Shot Ignite Arrows Dual Shot Necromancer Skills Vampiric Gaze (primary proffesion only) Deathly Swarm Animate Bone Horror Life Siphon Vampiric Touch Blood Renewal Soul Barbs Faintheartedness Monk Skills Banish (primary proffesion only) Healing Breeze (primary proffesion only) Bane Signet Orison of Healing Reversal of Fortune Shielding Hands Retribution Symbol of Wrath Mesmer Skills Empathy (primary proffesion only) Conjure Phantasm Ether Feast Imagined Burden Backfire Shatter Delusions Elementalist Skills Flare (primary proffesion only) Aura of Restoration Fire Storm Glyph of Lesser Energy Blinding Flash Lightning Javelin Which professions? If you wonder about what profession you should pick, it's hard to help, because of course, what you pick is just an opinion. What primary profession is best? Every profession is effective in a specific thing. I'll tell you what every proffesion makes that proffesion unique: Warrior Warrior are great at solo'ing. Get your Healing Signet up to about 100 Healing each cast by putting some points in tactics, take the best Axe/Sword you've got, and there shouldn't be much problems as long as you keep yourself healed. Either Monk or Ranger is a great secondary proffesion, Monk for Symbol of Wrath and Retribution and Ranger for the pet, which is always nice. Here is a picture of me solo'ing the Charr army at level 10. Ranger Ranger is a fun proffesion to play. Rangers mainly use bows, and as soon as you find a great bow (I've had a bow with 12-20 damage) you'll pierce through everything you see. A little bit help of a pet that take all the damage is always nice, and by using Ignite Arrows, you'll damage the whole group. It's hard to solo effectivly with a ranger though, arrow can't go through walls, and the pet won't be the only one taking damage, and as soon as you take hits, you won't be able to stand up straight for very long. You won't be using your secondary proffesion that much with a Ranger, but a Mesmer or Monk is great. Monk for a bit of extra healing, or a Mesmer, for Backfire against casters. Mesmer Mesmer is also great at solo'ing. Mesmers (actually, Dominition Mesmers) are very effective at solo'ing, but nearly noone knows. What's so great about Mesmers is that they can damage through wall/hills, since you're casting, and the Charr aren't that good at that, besides the Axe Fiends/Blade Storms. Use Empathy against Axe Fiends, Blade Storms and Hunters and use Backfire on the casters. Consure Phatasm followed by a quick Shatter Dillusions is also a great combo to hurt your enemy. But remember, stay behind walls/hills, so they can't hit you with anything besides spells. Second proffesion? Not that important. A pet isn't needed, but is nice, Monk is nice, but you have Ether Feast to heal you. It's just your choice. Necromancer Necromancer aren't played with that much, so are very rare. Necromancer aren't as great as mesmer at solo'ing, but it's the same idea. But since solo'ing is so important to get lvl up fast, always go for Mesmer, unless you want to be rare, or just specificly Necromancer. As second proffesion I'd say Monk, for extra healing, though, the Necromancer's Blood skills also heal you, or Ranger, for the pet. Elementalist Elementalist... Look great? I'm not a big fan of Elementalists in Pre-Searing. The only thing that shoots through walls, is Fire Storm, and I don't think you want to wait for it to recharge that many times, you'll be bored to death. Though, in combination with a secondary, it can be effective. Elementalists have Energy Storage, and always nice to put some points in, but, because you'll lose some precious primary online skills. Here is a picture of me solo'ing the Charr army at level 11. Monks Can effectivly solo and are great at teaming with a Warrior. If the Monk has a Warrior with him, it's easy. The Warrior doesn't have to worry about Healing, so no points in Tactics, and the Monk can focus on Healing. The Warrior will smash through everything, while the Monk won't get hit (well, that's what supossed to happen). Solo'ing is a bit hard, but the smiting skills are quite nice. Ranger as secondary proffesion for the pet is again an option, but Mesmer is also quite nice, for Backfire. Charr hunting If you've playing in Pre-Searing for a while you've probably heard of Charr hunting. Why Charr? They're the highest level mobs (level 7-10) in Pre-Searing, so they'll level you up quickly. You can get to lvl 16 by killing Charr (and possibly lvl 17 by doing the quests after getting to lvl 16 if GuildWiki's quest list is right, still testing this). The Charr are in the Northlands, and the Northlands are behind a giant gate, which is to you east when you enter Ascalon City. You need someone to open the door for you, so you can either team with someone or pay someone to open the door for you, and let him leave. The experience is rather easy to get on lvl 7-11 but it'll be very slow on higher lvl's. Try some ways to kill them (solo or with a team) and you'll get it in a few runs. Here are some thing you might want to know to make it a bit more easy: What should I attack? This depends on your proffesion. Shamans heal, Hunters deal alot of damage (depending on the bow they spawn with, I've seen Hunters deal over 50 damage with a Short Bow and Ignite Arrows and Penetrating Attack, that hurts!), Chaot burn your energy, Blade Storms/Axe Fiends use Frenzy (which makes their attacks quick, but makes them die even quicker) and Ashen Claws can really mess up Warriors. As I said, it depends on your proffesion. Warriors don't really have to care about Blade Storm/Axe Fiends and they don't have to care that much about Hunters as casters, since they've got 27 Armor and +20 Armor (vs. physical attacks) on each armor part (unless you use starter armor (which you just shouldn't as a Warrior), which is alot in Pre-Searing. Warriors hould first take down Shamans, their heals can be very well timed from time to time, and you don't want to hit the same target for a minute, just because he's getting healed. Hunters should be taken down second, their damage is outragious, you can't stand too many hits from those. And then it gets a bit more complicated. Kill Ashen Claws first when there's only one in the team, since 2 takes too long to kill, and their hexes don't stack, so then you should take them out as last). Then the Blade Storm/Axe Fiends, and then, the Chaots. Shamans with Bane Signet Shamans use Bane Signet as soon as you aggro them (if there are 2 shamans in the group, the second shaman starts casting Bane Signet when the other one just hit you with it). Bane Signet knocks you down, unless you know what to do, and the 2 seconds knockdown, is a 2 seconds of just taking hitson the floor, which is very painful. The Bane Signet's knockdown cane be stopped though, and that is by 2 ways. If the shaman is casting while you're running you won't be knocked down when you run by using the forward (usually 'W') button, though if you click on a target and use the attack button, you will be knocked down. You also won't be knocked down when you're casting a spell (Healing Signet for warriors really helps, casters should just cast a spell). Axe Fiends/Blade Storms and Frenzy Frenzy, you all know the skill that kills you, and that's why you should make use of Axe Fiends/Blade Storms using Frenzy. If they use Frenzy, they take twice is much damage, so they die twice as fast. When you're fighting Axe Fiends/Blade Storms, try to give all you've got as soon as they use Frenzy, so they'll take twice as much damage, which means twice as few energy/adrenaline! Axe Fiends Axe Fiends. As you probably expected, they use an axe, which means you'll take alot more damage when they attack from your back. Try to face the Axe Fiends at all times, so you'll take less damage, it always helps! Pets Pets are very nice in Pre-Searing. They're way more useful then in Post-Searing because of a couple of reasons. The most important reason is that your skill bar isn't locked for a couple of seconds when your pet dies, which it is in Post-Searing, and this is very annoying from time to time, since if your pet dies in Post-Searing, you're (especially as a caster) less effective in battle. More information about pets is on this page. These are the pets availabl... or i am not taking credit, all info is there
I'm sure you have already decided, but a monk is really fun. When roleplaying everyone wants a monk, so it's easy to find a party.
I have two charas on there... my first was an elementalist/necro and then I made a mesmer/elementalist. Mesmers rule, I'm hardly playing with my poor elementalist girl anymore. Warriors would never be my kind of class... it's just not my style, lol.
I'm elemenatlist they own!! only lvl 10 but have been playing it for just a week orso.. and soon will get a green staff from a friend lol. lucky me. Merged Post: I'm elemenatlist they own!! only lvl 10 but have been playing it for just a week orso.. and soon will get a green staff from a friend lol. but he still needs to buy the offhand ^^ lucky me.
I voted Necro cause the necro chicks can look like ivy in soul caliber. I would have voted for ranger IF you could tame.... KILLER BUNNY RABBITS OF DOOM....but you cant tame the rabbits (pre searing)
my warrior is my favorite character by far... Great main class, best armor class, best melee damage. Every secondary class meshes well with it. W/Mo, W/N, W/E, W/Me, W/R all have great strategies and builds. In short, it is the jack of all trades. The bad part is how flipping expensive they are to make. Its basically FARM FARM FARM until you find something since their axes and swords are so flipping expensive. (150K+ for a rare with the same stats of Victo's Axe). My second favorite character is my monk, amongst the majority of the group I play with (about 50-100 people) I am known as being one of the best monks so it makes me happy. I can always get a party and I used to be able to solo UW with her.
Heh i love my w/r combo but my favorite as said above is still n/mo with spinal shivers and minion/feind skills
