The reason about this because I want a motherboard that has a PCI-Express slot (since new and high performance cards are in PCI-Express interface). I have (currently) a motherboard for about half year and it supports AGP interface. I mean it can play my games in a high res and plays smoothly great (my Nvidia GeForce 6600GT that is). If I had a motherboard with a PCI-Express slot, then I would get the 7800GT to play kick-ass. Since my video card plays my games smoothly, is there a difference of having a 7800GT and a motherboard to play a game smoothly or is it the same?
you almost get 3x more performance when running 3d mark which im not sure what that calculates to performance wise in games. But what is your processor? If we dont know we cannot recommend a motherboard.

I would suggest getting the eVGA 7800GT and keeping the free motherboard you get with it. Hey bona fide, I thought you said the x1800 out performed 7800's? Or was that someone else.. That seems like a decent board, but it doesnt have perfect feedback..but hey, i guess they all have problems here and there
My CPU is a 754-pin model. If I have to, I can always get another AMD Athlon 64 processor in the 939-pin model. But I'll get that with a free motherboard (with a purchase of the EVGA 7800GT card) months later. Right now, my motherboard is still running smoothly (on any games, programs, etc.). I ain't in a rush.

If it's still running fine then I wouldn't go about upgrading it until they come out with some stuff that you really need in order to play your games. Maybe wait until your processor starts to get really taxed or your video card isn't keeping up. But since you're alright for now, my suggestion is save up your money for later.
Yeah, I guess you're right Chadwick. My motherboard (and everything else) is running great. I won't upgrade for about a year or 2 (or) until my processor and motherboard starts to wear out.
welll I would recomend defuzions link save for the fat it has nothing on it... try this http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList....ATTR18=&ATTR19= the MSI board with the INT 6100 is decent, I got it for myself(I intend to use the INT GFX on it when I get a new proc/motherboard and have it in a seperate system) Like you I was in a similar situation, I have a cruddy radeon 9250 and went to the 7800GT. diference is increadible. you have a 6600 though, you might want to wait a bit untill you have a little more cash... get an entire new system, your fine right now aren't you? I mean it's not like you can't play the newest games on decent settings.
