I been using PS for ages now and its been running fine till today.

NOw its just eating my system resources, CPU for 80 to 95% and ram usage goes up by well over 300 as soon as i start PS. I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it to no avail. I even bumped me ram up abit and stillit wont help.

Ive never ha d aproblem like this b4, when ever anythinglike this did happen it was always just uninstall and reinstall and all wasfine.

    Any ideas would be great.

    btw it PS CS2

what are your PCs specs? it's ormal for CPU useage to go up to 100% when opening a program. when do you read the percentage as it opens or after it is finished loading and is idle?

if your running CS2 512mb ram isnt really sufficient. For it to run well you need 1gb.

The 512MB RAM is the problem. I had CS2 and it was so slow and very glitchy. I was pretty sure that it was my amount of RAM.. So, thanks to Defuzion for clearing that up. ;)

CS2 brings in spyware sometimes (just had problems with CS2 Photoshop and ImageReady yesterday). I figured to use adaware. It fixed it.

Plus even tho i have a Athlon 3400 (64-bit), I find that it doesnt perform well enough for PS.

    (Defuzion, is CS2 64-bit compatable?)

well i am running multiple programs with CS2 (ImageReady, AIM, Firefox, Winamp).

Plus you probably set the memory usage for CS2 to be low. I allow CS2 to use as much as 600mb of RAM.

I have an AMD Athlon XP 3000+, and 512mb RAM. It runs fine, since I'm often running CS2, Dreamweaver, and Firefox...

    looks like a spyware problem.

    Check for spyware and viruses.
CS2 is known as a resource hog, try downgrading to CS.
    Close other programs.
    A ram upgrade could help.
Set your pagefile to 768 at least..Maybe 1024.

The Athlon 64 2800 > XP 3000+ so your proc should be decent..
